Joshua Moreland

Joshua Elisha Jeremiah Moreland passed away peacefully at his home in Terrell, Texas on April 2, 2025. Joshua was born in Elgin, Illinois to Clarence and Carla Moreland on November 30, 1979 and was raised in a Christian home and military family in which he, his brothers and father proudly served. Joshua is preceded in death by his grandparents, Johnnie and Emma Morrison and Clarence and Madelynn Moreland. He is also preceded in death by uncles Robert Louis Moreland, Donald Vincent Moreland, Aunt Linda Louise Medelberg, and 1st cousins Billy Medelberg, Alyssa Lutz and Nick Stephenson. Joshua was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, proud father, defender of his country and an avid outdoorsman and advocate for disabled veterans. Following in his father's footsteps, Joshua entered the Navy and served his country with pride and honor. Along his life’s journey, Joshua became the proud father of two amazing children and that became the top priority in his life. He would love to take his children, nieces and nephews into the wild outdoors and invest in them while teaching them about the beauty of nature and the simplicity of catching a fish or starting a fire. Joshua always enjoyed being outdoors, either fishing, camping, hunting, or even just general exercise. Other favorite hobbies Joshua enjoyed were gardening, wood carving, arts, crafts or anything he could make with his hands. Joshua lived up to his namesake and proclaimed for all to know the meaning of his name: "God is Salvation"! Left to carry on Joshua's memories are his children Eliana Moreland and Caleb Moreland, his parents, Clarence and Carla Moreland, the mother of his children, Laci Moreland along with siblings: Benjamin and wife Beth Moreland, Gabriel and wife Brianne Moreland, Robert and wife Raquel Moreland. Also left to carry on Joshua's legacy are his beloved nieces and nephews: Violet, Naomi, Jaelynn, Elijah, Brayden, Sheldon, Evan and wife Emerson, Mason, Brooklynn, Ella, Halen and Christiana along with numerous extended family and a host of friends. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, April 18, 2025 starting at 1:00 pm at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Oakland Memorial Park. Following interment, a memorial service will be held at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Terrell. Food and beverages will be served. A discounted block of rooms has been reserved at the Fairfield Inn & Suites. Call the hotel and use “Moreland” room block for a discounted rate. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 6 - 8 pm at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel.
