Justin Tyler Schweers

SPC Justin Tyler Schweers, US Army, passed away on June 26, 2020. Justin was born June 8, 1997 in Waxahachie, Tx, and was welcomed into Heaven by his beloved Papa, Robert Matevia, Sr., grandmothers: Joyce Matevia, Monica Schweers; grandfather, Mike Sanders and his Aunt Kathy and Uncle Howard. As a young boy, Justin loved having fun and making every day fun. He attended Poteet HS in Mesquite then transferred and graduated from Terrell High School in 2016. In January, 2017, Justin made the bold and brave decision to fight for the country he loved and he enlisted in the US Army where he was currently active duty and was proudly serving. Although serious about his duty to ensuring our freedom, Justin definitely had a fun and fun loving side that was well known. He loved motorcycles, trucks, fun women and adventures of all sizes. Known to some of his friends and family as J$ (J-Money) Justin always was the life of the party and he was up for anything. Bull riding, country saloons, big belt buckles, mullets, and muddy boots, he loved it all. His smile was contagious and would fill the room. He was such a prankster and found joy in making others happy. The definition of a mama's boy, Justin was Linda's biggest fan. He could always be found starting mischief at his favorite place, mom's house. He would make his sister Andrea laugh so loud it could be heard from a mile away. The hunting trips with his brother Brian and friends and the fishing trips with his Papa and Uncle Robert will always be remembered. Justin also loved modifying his toys because stock was never enough. Starting at a young age, some of his fondest memories were working in the shop with Neil and John. He took pride in his service to our country and the two deployments completed in South Korea and Germany will never be forgotten. One of his favorite memories was snow boarding down the Austrian Alps at Christmas during his second deployment. Justin was known for lending a hand to anyone in need and always “taking one for the team”. He was up for any challenge and excelled at many things: skate boarding, football, baseball, soccer, tennis, track, just to name a few. His hugs were always with two arms and 110%, which was the same way he lived his life. There are too many cherished memories to be written down, but they will never fade from all the family and friends' hearts he touched. His love, loyalty, and pranks will never be forgotten. Justin’s memory will be forever treasured by his mother, Linda Schweers and husband, Jim Fincannon; father, Carl Schweers and wife, Pamela; sister: Andrea Schweers and husband, Hobbes LeCompte; brother: Brian Schweers and wife, Angie; birth mother, DJ Schweers-Jenkins; step-siblings: Emily Coleman and husband Isaiah, Jacob Elder, Joshua Williams, and John Shary; grandparents: Diann Barker Sanders, Shirley Becker (and her son, Dan and his family and her daughter, Jackie and her family), Shirley Tompkins, Linda Drennan; aunts and uncles: Greg Schweers and wife, Denise, and family, Sharon Grande and husband, Tony, and family, Sandy Halpin and John J. Murray, Robert Matevia, Jr., Cindy Matevia, Tracy Tompkins and husband, Jay, Robert Drennan, Neil Shary; nieces: Angelina, Paige, Penelope, Shelby and Marlee; cousins: Cailyn Thompkins, Cameran Eames and husband, Richard, Nathan and Amanda; his brothers in arms of the Army, 4-9 Cav/3-16FA as well as many other loving family and friends, all of whom will deeply miss Justin. Funeral service for Justin will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2020 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel. Justin's family will receive friends 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Max Slayton Funerals. Interment will be at the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
