Mary Hulon

Family and Friends of Mary Slate Hulon, 85 of Terrell, know her prayers have been answered. She is safe and secure in the arms of her Savior Jesus. Mary was baptized earlier in life but as a young adult she made a life changing decision putting her faith in Jesus alone for her salvation. She was born to Jesse and Mary Jane Slate in a farm house near McKinney and educated nearby. At the age of 16 she married her teenage sweetheart, Tom Mitchell Hulon Jr., on August 27, 1946 and they proudly talked about spending their honeymoon picking cotton. They continued most of their career working together at the Candy Kitchen in McKinney, Hulon’s Auto Supply, Hulon’s Mobil Distributors to Hulon’s Sales & Service in Terrell, which they sold and retired due to Tom’s health and Mary being his outstanding caregiver. She also worked at Montags, Brookshire’s & JC Penney’s. She loved and was a long time active member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Terrell. After her Lord Jesus, Mary’s Greatest love was her family. Her husband Tom preceded her to heaven on February 2, 1986. She was also preceded by her parents and brothers: V A (Dora) Slate, J Ezra Slate, Lonnie (Minnie) Slate, and Clarence (Naomi) Dawson; sisters, Jessie (J W) Love, Madeline (Halbert) Blurton. Meme’s Love and Concern was always evident for her daughters and sons-in-law: Sandra and Steve Nichols of Terrell; Judy and Dewayne Hayes of Eaton, CO; granddaughter, Stephanie (Bill) Halpin of Terrell, grandsons, Jason (Lori) Williamson of Heath, Mitchell (Michelle) Rogers, Westminister, CO; Great grand Children, Kalyn (Beau) Duke of Kaufman, Shon Paul Armstrong of Terrell, Madison Williamson of Memphis, TN, Lyla Rogers and brother to be born in February of Westminister, CO; GREAT Great Grandson, Braxton Duke; Brother and Sister in Law, Elbert and Pat Slate of Garland; sisters-in-law, Tessie Slate of Prosper and Ruth Hulon of Florida. Many nieces and nephews which she so enjoyed hosting at her house the Sunday after Christmas for years. Funeral service for Mrs. Hulon will be at 2:00pm, Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with the family receiving friends from 12pm to service time. Interment will follow at Oakland Memorial Park.
