Betty Jo Pearcey

Betty Jo Pearcey, a resident of Dallas, Texas, age 85, passed away May 1, 2025, after a long illness. Born on April 4, 1940, in Galveston, Texas, Betty was a vibrant spirit who touched the lives of everyone she met. She is preceded in death by her parents Corinne and Joseph Hood of Galveston, Texas. Betty lived in several cities across the state of Texas throughout her life. She spent her childhood in Galveston and graduated from Ball High School in 1958. She later attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas to pursue a degree in music where she met Embree “Charles” Bedsole from Abbeville, Alabama. They wed in 1959 and together moved to Austin. In 1969, she married Harold W. Pearcey and they remained married until 1988. She later resettled in San Antonio to assist her parents in operating a family-owned hotel, The Town & Country Lodge, before returning to Dallas in 1997 to be closer to her family. Betty welcomed four children, Embree Charles “Chuck”, Joseph, and twins John and Sara. Throughout her life, Betty remained devoted to her parents, children and later became a beloved grandmother to four grandchildren. Betty was known for her infectious laugh and her ability to make friends wherever she went. She had a passion for music, often playing the piano and singing for her children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with joy. Her love for travel and spending time with family was evident in everything she did, and she made the decision to move back to Dallas to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Betty enjoyed cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and The Texas Longhorns and listening to music with family and friends. She also had a love for musicals and taking her family to visit the Majestic Theater in San Antonio to see the shows. She had a unique blend of humor and strength, never hesitating to speak her mind and stand her ground, making her a force to be reckoned with. Betty will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who brought light and laughter into the lives of those around her. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of her family and friends. Betty is survived by her sons Embree Charles “Chuck” Bedsole, II (Tracy), Dallas, TX; Joseph Michael Bedsole (Jeff Sikes), Spicewood, TX; John Christian Bedsole (Susan), Corinth, TX; Sara Elizabeth Holland (Philip) of Lake Dallas, TX; grandson Robert J. “Bobby” Bedsole (Crystal) and great grandson, Brooks Bedsole of Dallas, TX; granddaughter Ashley Rabb (Carson), and great grandchildren Paul and Charlotte Rabb of San Antonio, TX; grandsons Andrew Holland and Blake Holland of Lake Dallas, TX; and cousins Jim Bailey (Barbara) of Cedar Hill, TX and Mike Dehmer (Karen) of Smithville, TX A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held in Dallas, Texas at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to one's favorite charity.
