Carey Beck

Carey Gene Beck passed away on September 4, 2024. He was born in Terrell on August 5, 1961, to Louie and Portia Beck and he was preceded in death by his father. If Carey was sure about one thing, it was his never-ending love for Cheryl Blessing. He used to come home from grade school and tell his Mama that when he grew up, he was 'gonna marry her'! Cheryl's mother, Charlotte, a 7th grade reading teacher here in Terrell, fondly remembered him being 'spit and polished' because, in school, Carey always had his belt on and shirt tucked in. It was this kind of effort that made Carey the perfect other half for Cheryl. On November 26, 1983, they sealed their love in exchanging vows and began their lifelong journey together, raising two beautiful daughters. Carey was an accomplished painter in residential and commercial construction for over 40 years and, when not perfecting a project through his talent with a paintbrush, he enjoyed working on his ranch. Having a work ethic that was second to none, Carey was as successful in taking care of his land as he was with custom painting on building projects. He’ll be best remembered for being an excellent provider for his family, loving husband and father and most especially being a Pappy to his granddaughter, Kelly. He loved Kelly so much and it brought him incredible joy when he had the opportunity to pick Kelly up from school every day for the last three years. After school and on weekends, Carey loved to babysit and play with her anytime she wanted leading to a cherished relationship with his sweet grandbaby. Being the greatest Pappy to Kelly was his highest honor and she called Carey her very best friend. Carey is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Cheryl Beck; daughters: Casey Beck, Charli Fuentes and husband, Justin; granddaughter, Kelly Cook; mother, Portia Beck; brother, Bobby Beck; nephew, Cody, and niece Tanna. Carey is also survived by extended family including aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. He will be missed dearly. "Until we meet in again in heaven, I pray that God blesses my loving husband.". The funeral service for Carey will be held at 3:00pm, Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Max Slayton Funeral Chapel in Terrell, Texas, with interment to College Mound Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Friday, September 13, 2024 at the funeral home.
