Carl Moore

Carl Lynn Moore passed away on January 15, 2024, in Tyler, Texas. He was born on Christmas Day 1954 to Sammy Dale Moore and Evelyn Moore Foss. As the eldest sibling, he was born a natural caretaker and the joy of his mother and father. Carl was a kind and caring person eager to help family and friends in time of need. Pleasant Grove, Texas was home during his childhood years, and he proudly graduated from Spruce High School in 1973. Carl was a self-taught musician and could play piano, saxophone, upright bass, and acoustic & bass guitars. His voice was one of a kind and he sang many a song in his 69 years on this earth. Carl formed lifelong relationships through music, whether it was running sound for Blue Mudbone or when joining the band, Gringo Fire; where he played bass and sang. He was electrifying on stage! In 1977, he married and they had two children, Khindra Moore Kent and Brandon Moore. He was a loving father. Carl was a jack of all trades and never shied away from hard work. Later, Carl met the love of his life, Valerie Moore, in 1993 after Ronnie and Betty Taylor set Carl and Valerie up on a blind date. At first, Valerie was intimated by his size but soon learned that Carl was a “gentle giant”. After a brief courtship, they married in 1994 combining their lives of love and adventure. They found a soulmate in one another, and he loved her deeply. He retired from DAP in 2017, and he and his wife moved to Mineola, TX to enjoy the quiet country life. He could be found on his John Deere tractor working in the yard or sitting on the back deck enjoying the view most days. If you ever had the privilege to sit down and talk with Carl you know he would end just about every conversation with a sincere, "Let me know if you need anything". He might have also asked you if you found a box of hundred-dollar bills to share those with him as well...and he meant that too. He liked to laugh and had the perfect ornery grin and a twinkle in his eye when he was teasing with you. His hugs were out of this world, and he loved with his whole heart. He is preceded in death by his father Sammy Dale Moore. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Valerie Moore-Moore; mother, Evelyn Moore Foss of Van, Tx; daughter, Khindra and Todd Kent Emory, Tx; son, Brandon and Kristin Moore of Lavon, TX; stepdaughter, Dusti Thompson; stepson, Johnathan Rhodes; sister, Lana Moore and Ron Gabriel of Van, TX; brother, William and Diane Moore of Enchanted Oaks, Tx; grandchildren, Blaine Moore, Katie Kent, Oscar Kent, Michelle Richards, Valerie Davis, CJ Richards, Karissa Detwiler, Nathan Rhodes, and Faith Rhodes. Also surviving Carl, are his great grandchildren whom he had devotional love: Bentley Boyd Davis, Kayson Brentley Davis, Brookelynn Joycee Davis, Amiyah Gayton, Aryanna Gayton, Kinsleyann Detwhiler, Kinsly Grace Patterson and a large extended family that adored Carl. Carl will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him! A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 12:00pm – 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the Mineola Civic Center in the Dogwood Room. 1150 N Newsom St, Mineola, Texas 75773
