Carmen Pulley

Carmen Annette Pulley was born June 8, 1960 in Terrell, TX and passed away July 20, 2026 in Mesquite, TX where she resided having just celebrated her 66th birthday. She attended Terrell Schools and graduated from Terrel High School in 1978. After working a number of years as a pharmaceutical tech, she pursued her dream of becoming a nurse. She started her education at El Centro Dallas College but completed her associate’s degree in nursing at Trinity Valley Community College in 1993. She was a Psychiatric Registered Nurse for almost 25 years at Terrell State Hospital. Carmen collected hundreds of nurse figurines during her nursing years and in 2021, she donated her collection to the Baylor University Louis Herrington School of Nursing, where it remains on display. Though she did not have biological children, she adopted (without all that paperwork) the Jackson-Sims-Bryant family and they became her kids. Tay, John, Jr., Joe, Christina, Colby, Caleb, Calen, Cynthia and Cayla became such an important part of her life, and she gladly told the world they were hers. She had a good sense of humor and could make any story funny. She loved to travel if she could fly. Her favorite destination was Jamaica, and she made between 20-30 trips there. A cruise could be done by Carmen every now and then too. Though she traveled with many (basically anyone that would pack and go!), Carmen’s consistent travel buddies were Pam Hiser, Patty Sluder, and Nancy Malone. She could be straightforward with ease and yet always have a giving heart. She is preceded in death by her brother, David Pulley, and her parents, Rev. D.R. “Pete” Pulley and Glenn Ellen Pulley. She used her nursing skills to help care for her parents before they passed away. After trying to nurse her father through some much-needed physical therapy, he exclaimed that she wished that he had sent her to truck driving school! She is survived by her sister, Kay Pulley, of Mesquite, TX and the Jackson-Sims-Bryant Family members. There are multiple cousins and many friends left to also share her memory. Special thanks goes to her caregiving friend of many years, Connie Tate. Funeral service for Carmen will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the Max Slayton Funeral Chapel in Terrell, Texas with an interment to follow at Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell, Texas.
