Danny Lawrence

Danny Glenn Lawrence, passed away Feb. 20, 2017 in Rockwall. Danny was born June 4, 1949 in Bonham, Tx to Glen and Lorene Lawrence, both of whom preceded him in death along with his brother, Mark Lawrence and father-in-law, Charles Smith. Danny grew up in Dallas and graduated from W.W. Samuell High School after which he attended, and graduated from, Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Ok. He met the love of his life, Lynda Smith, and on July 10, 1971, they began their life together as husband and wife. After having served in the Dallas Fire Department until 1978, Danny then became the owner and operator of Machine Tool and Repair where his attention to detail and his professionalism earned him the respect of both his peers and his customers. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in the lakes of East Texas and he was a longtime and active member of the Lake Tawakoni Bass Club. While his work ethic and his love of nature and hobbies were remarkable aspects of Danny’s personality, the greatest joy he had was in his grandson, Brody, who was the light of his life. He fulfilled many important roles in his lifetime but being Brody’s Papa was his delight. A man of integrity, honesty and solid character, Danny will be forever remembered for his love for his family and being a friend and steadfast supporter to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Danny leaves to celebrate his memory his beloved wife, Lynda Lawrence; his loving son: Brandon Lawrence and wife, Casey; treasured grandchildren: Brody Lawrence, Dalton and Hadley Regehr, Nick and Zach Kwasneski; brother, Mike Lawrence; mother-in-law, Lottie Smith as well as many special nieces, nephews, and godchildren including: Jeff, Tina, Gracie, and Audrey Lawrence, Tabatha and Doug Regehr, Amber and David Ott and Hunter Smith, Jena, Darren, Gage, Lauren, and Chloe Vercruysse, Courtney Smith, and Cassidy and Ray Guerrero along with countless friends, colleagues and fishermen, all of whom will keep each memory of Danny near to their heart. Funeral services for Danny Lawrence will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday February 25, 2017, at Max Slayton Funerals and Cremations and he will be laid to rest at College Mound Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 24, at the funeral home.
