Darlene Fryar

Darlene Fryar, of Terrell, passed away on the morning of March 6, 2025 at home with family at her side. Darlene was born April 21, 1940 in Oklahoma to Herbert and Maxine Henry, both of whom joyfully greeted her in Heaven along with her husband, Robert S. Fryar, and her sister, Mickey June Allen. Darlene was a longtime Terrell resident having lived and worked here for most of her life. She owned and operated Mr. T-Shirt here in Terrell for many years and then worked with Steve Brown and Associates where she provided excellent customer service to every one of the clients. Darlene was also an active member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas having served in many capacities including as the Past President of the Mary Ann Lawhon Chapter. After retiring, she devoted her time to others being a caregiver as well as spending time with her own family. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Terrell where she was active in children’s ministry, teaching Sunday School to the little ones. She also enjoyed reading, was an avid viewer of soap operas AND British PBS programming especially Father Brown’s mysteries on Saturday nights. Her longtime membership in the Daughters of the Republic of Texas also allowed Darlene to enjoy her other favorite pastime, genealogy. She truly enjoyed the history (and mystery!) of lineages and ancestry as she dove deep into past relations and descendants of Texas families including her own. A woman of incredible interests and life stories, Darlene's memory will be forever cherished by the ones who loved her. She leaves her love to be carried on into future generations by her children: Barry Fryar and wife, Laurie, Stacey Manning and husband, Keith, and Scott Fryar and wife, Summer; grandchildren: Darla Wade, Bradley Boyd, Sarah Trevino, Derek Fryar, Chandler Fryar and Tyler Fryar; great grandchildren: Rayland, Inara, Cade, Jordyn, Denver, Grayson, Greenlee and Kolt along with other extended family and friends, each of whom will greatly miss her. A celebration of her life will be at 10:30am, Monday, March 24, 2025 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at 2:15pm at Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery where Darlene will be laid to rest by her beloved husband, Robert.
