Dennis Joshua Harris

Dennis Joshua Harris, of Terrell, passed away on June 20, 2024 with family at his side. Joshua was born July 25, 1983 to Jimmy and Janice Harris and he grew up in Harrison, Arkansas. After graduating from Bruno-Pyett High School in Harrison, he attended college receiving his Bachelors in Nursing and becoming a RN in several hospitals. Joshua began working with Baylor Scott and White in Irving and his gift of exemplary patient care earned him a reputation of being the best. While he was working, Joshua continued to attend college and was currently in the process of earning his Masters degree so that he could take advantage of every opportunity that came his way in his career. After working with BSW, he then began working for Baxter Healthcare as a liaison to the medical teams at hospitals as he trained and supervised implementation of innovative products. His ability to help hospital personnel, whether their background was medical or administrative, to choose the best medical device for every level of patient care enabled Joshua to excel in sales for Baxter until his own health began to decline. In 2012, he marred Amy Wiley and together they had a wonderful life being each others soul mates. Joshua was blessed to be a devoted dad to Ally Jo and Layne, his son and daughter, both of whom thought he absolutely hung the moon. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and was a member of Poetry Baptist Church. Joshua loved scuba diving and he was currently working on reciprocating his instructor’s license here to Texas. Being underwater was second nature to him and he was truly in his ‘happy place’ when he was swimming with sharks in the great oceans. Joshua was preceded in death by two men who helped Joshua in becoming the best man he could be: his father, Jimmy Harris and his ‘bonus’ father, Danny Godfrey, He leaves his memory to be forever cherished by his wife, Amy Wiley Harris; daughter, Allison Jolene (Ally Jo) Harris; son, Dennis Layne Harris; mother, Janice Harris; brother, B.J. Harris; sister, Tiffany Abner and husband, Kent; his ‘bonus’ mom, Susie Gregory; parents-in-law, Paul and Vicki Wiley; brother-in-law, Todd Wiley as well as other nieces, nephews, extended family, colleagues and many friends. A service to celebrate Joshua’s life is being planned for a later date by his family here in Texas and in Arkansas.
