Drew West

Drew Alexander West was born on Oct. 25, 1992, in Dallas Texas to Gayla (Beck) West and Chuck West. On the 8th of June, 2024, he entered into the presence of everlasting life. How can you describe Drew in a few words, you might as well try to count the grains of sand on the beach or the drops of water in the oceans. He was bigger than life, and a voice that could be heard from a mile away, which often caused him to be the one in school accused of wrongdoing, guilty or not. He said aloud what everyone else was thinking when they were too shy or polite to say it out loud. He could often be inappropriate, arrogant, and hard-headed. He had a wicked sense of humor, a contagious laugh, and loved to tease, only those he loved though, and he often played a practical joke on some unsuspecting soul. He worked hard and he played hard. Like his great grandfather, Charles, he was a good storyteller, and on occasion, let's say that Drew never let the truth get in the way of a good story. Drew was loyal! He would fight a buzz saw for anyone who was being put down or against anyone who said something about his family, friends, or even strangers. He was generous, loving, and completely dedicated to his family. Drew never met a stranger. He knew everyone and would step up to help or give support at all times even if he never saw them again. He had a mega-watt smile that would light up the room and laughter that shook the trees. Drew possessed a heart that was so big it barely fit in his body. He often tried to hide his soft side with bravado and bluster, but those of us who knew and loved him saw how much love and compassion his heart held and shared with all. He recently organized an annual event to raise money for St. Jude's Hospital for Children's Cancer Research Hospital. Drew would step up when others stepped back. He joined the Army Reserve to serve his country with pride. He would go anywhere and do anything to help someone in need. He always expressed as a child and young man that he would want to be a Police Officer or a Fireman/EMT to help people. He didn't go that path professionally, but he served as a Rosser, TX volunteer fireman during high school and college. Drew was loved, appreciated, and revered by many people. He was not wishy-washy, shy, or prone to people's nonsense. He was genuine. Drew was Drew, like him or not and he was fine with that. Most of all, Drew loved April, Levi, Scarlet, and his whole family. April is the love of his life. His love for his look-a-like son Levi is boundless, true, complete, and the joy of his life. Scarlet brought a new dimension to his life, the Dad that sheltered and protected his girl. He made sure that she was being taken care of in every way. He was the best father anyone could ever imagine to Levi and Scarlet, and took time to work with, play with, and teach them. Drew is survived by his wife April, son Levi, and daughter Scarlet. He is also survived by his loving family, parents Chuck and Gayla, brother Blake and his wife Gabbie, brother Clay, grandmothers Linda Westbrook and Betty West. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is preceded by his grandfathers James West and Joseph Beck, bonus grandfather John Westbrook, cousins Jeremy and Luvina, and his great grandfather Charles Barrett. Drew will be missed and long remembered by HIs Army Reserve unit: 878th Quartermaster Company, and his Rogue22 Club family. Both were a huge part of Drew’s life. Drew's time in this world was much too short, and he will always be loved, missed, and thought of by many. His memory will live on in those he loved until we meet again. He was a good man who left a legacy of love to all. Keep them on their toes up there, Drew, and we will try to carry on your purpose here for you. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 5:00pm at Crandall Cemetery, 102 Trinity Rd, Crandall, TX 75114.
