Jason Maxey

Jason Leet Maxey, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on April 26, 2024. Jason was born March 15, 1980 in Dallas to Benny and Melanie, proud parents to a beautiful baby boy. He grew up in the Dallas area and attended schools at Terrell and Kemp. As a young man, Jason discovered that he enjoyed doing anything and everything that had to do with repairing, rewiring, redoing and renovating. While Jason had the incredible talent of being good at everything, he especially enjoyed electrical work the most on commercial and residential projects or any DIY project too. It was well known that if it needed doin’, call Jason! Even if he didn’t know the exact details of a project, Jason’s kind heart and generosity gave him the motivation to learn it and then accomplish it ESPECIALLY if it helped anyone who had a need. Along with his heart to serve others, Jason’s dedication to his family was legendary. He loved hard and he loved true and each of his family members were blessed to know his dedication. On October 7, 2017, he married his best friend and soul mate, Jamie, after she saw Jason pick up her son and help him see better at a rodeo area. Jason’s kindness and instant fatherly behavior made her realize that his heart was truly for the ones he loved and would love. Together, he and Jamie would build a life based on faith, love and the utmost respect for each other-great beliefs that will forever continue to be carried on by his children. They both attended One Church in Caddo Mills where Jason had just recently become baptized after professing his trust and love in the Lord, a day that Jamie, his family and many friends celebrated along with the angels in Heaven. When not working or spending time with family, Jason LOVED riding motorcycles and was a trusted member of the Junkyard Dogs MC where his membership in the brotherhood enabled him to have the closest of friends, many of whom became just like brothers. Aptly given the club name “Chaos” (or, as a hurried play on letters “Choas” at other times!) Jason certainly brought his own brand of fun to every event and every ride and while Jason wasn’t known for cracking a smile as often as everyone else, his wit and sense of humor were the reasons others were smiling! He truly enjoyed getting time to spend with family and extended family and days spent with each person he loved were the best days. A loving man who always put others before himself, Jason will be missed always and never forgotten by all whose lives he impacted. Jason was met in Heaven by his father, Benny Maxey; his grandparents: Leet and Laura Maxey and Eleanor and Harold Price; his uncles: Roy Maxey and Roy Price and his brother-in-law, Chris Hill. Jason’s memory will continue to be cherished by his wife, Jamie Maxey; children: Hynslei Maxey, Victor Holley, Layden Holley, Jason Maxey, Jr. and Maddison Maxey; parents, Melanie and Jeff Shields; siblings: Todd Lanning, Chanda Maxey, Heather Maxey and Perry Belk, Mackenzie “Sissy Poot” McKay and Wyatt; nieces and nephews: Becca, Austin, Paige, Cain, Elle, Parker, Kaden, Jace and James, III, and the two very special nieces: Mikayla (KK) and husband, Dalton and Julia (JuJuBee) and husband, Omar; great-niece and -nephew: Blakely and Ryder; father- in-law Jim Chandler and Misty; his “ pain in the a**” brother-in-law, James Chandler; a friend who became as close as a brother, Armando Sanchez, Jr and wife, Jade and their children: Armando, III, Isaiah and Jocy along with other beloved extended family and a host of friends. Jason will also be forever remembered by his JYD brotherhood including his best friend who was as close as a brother, Blaine (Top Hat) Lee, along with his mentor, Stacey (Ace) Green, whom Jason loved like a father. Funeral service will be at 3:00pm, Friday, May 3, 2024 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with his family receiving friends beginning at 1:30pm to service time.
