Jerry White

Jerry G. White of Terrell went to be in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, July 20, 2024. Jerry was born on March 29, 1938, the beloved son of Forest and Winnie B. White. Jerry spent his first years in San Diego, California where his father was stationed in the Navy, and then grew up in Lubbock, Texas. On June 3, 1958, he married Lucy Ann Howell, a Christian woman that was more precious and beautiful to him than any jewel. Their love story was one for the ages, and every day Jerry’s love for Lucy was on full display. Throughout their 66 years of marriage, they were rarely ever apart and their devotion and respect for each other only grew stronger. Her sweet smile and his fun personality made instant friends of all who met them. Together they raised three happy children to whom they instilled their faith and values. Always a kid a heart, Jerry was adored by his children for his playfulness and fun-loving attitude. He was an involved, loving, and devoted father. Jerry was a craftsman. He had tremendous creative ability, which he wove into his hobbies and professions. He knew from a young age his God-given talent was woodworking, and he founded Creative Store Equipment in Terrell in 1964. There he crafted quality, unique store displays and fixtures for a variety of customers all over North America. He then ventured into jewelry making and eventually opened Creative Jewelry in Terrell, where he again crafted works of art out of natural materials. For many years Jerry continued his passion for both jewelry and woodworking by building amazing, one-of-a-kind crosses for friends and family. He would spend countless hours in his workshop making treasures for those he loved. He and his son, Bryan, started Cross Cut together to showcase their woodworking designs. His beautiful crosses, frames, pens and rings can be found in homes and businesses far and wide and are an enduring testament to Jerry’s talent and faith. For over 30 years, Jerry was also a pest control technician where his sense of humor and lightheartedness made everyone look forward to seeing him, despite the reason for the visit! Jerry was a longtime, faithful member of First Baptist Church Terrell where he was a deacon and served many years in the radio ministry, as well as other ministries. His smile and positive attitude set the tone for every Sunday morning worship service, and he was a bright spot among the volunteers who were proud to work alongside him over the years. He was a loving husband and father, cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, whose heart was always open for others and the Lord. Jerry will be immensely missed and always remembered. He is preceded in death by his parents Forest and Winnie B. White, along with his parents-in-law, The Rev. Graydon, Sr. and Esther Howell. He is survived by his wife, Lucy White of Terrell; children: Bryan White and wife Lisa; Sharyl Markovits and husband Jesse; Vicki Allen and husband Bobby; grandchildren: Jerad White and wife Allison; Britni Croasdale and husband John; Wesley Bailey; Kelci Davis and husband Tyler; Jase Bailey; and Jake Allen; great-grandchildren: Jayden, Harper, Daisy, John Luke, Jett, LaDamian, Mason, Cayden, Rylan, Marlie, Juliet, Haston, Andrew, and Kolten; brothers-in-law, Graydon Howell, Jr., Lenny Howell and Timothy Howell; sister-in-law, Sandra Adams; longtime friend, Benny Bevers, who was like a brother; his Chihuahua Phoebe, a beloved companion of 16 years; extended family members; his church family; and a host of friends. A celebration of Jerry’s life and legacy will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church Terrell, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the National MS Society (https://donate.nationalmssociety.org/) or to First Baptist Church Terrell’s radio ministry (www.fbcterrell.org/give).
