Jim Kick

James “Jim” Leo Kick, Jr of Forney, Texas, went to be with our Lord on October 22, 2025 at 76 years of age. Jim was born on March 26, 1949, in Monmouth, Illinois, to the parents of James Leo and Georgia Moore Kick. Jim is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Peggy Ford. Jim was raised in and around Pocahontas, Arkansas and graduated high school in 1967. Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman. On April 23, 1968, Jim enlisted in the US Army where he served as a Quartermaster in Germany until his honorable discharge on April 1, 1974. After the Army, he returned to Pocahontas, where he worked in construction on the commercial side and building homes. In 1985, Jim relocated to Texas and continued working in construction for THE Contractors and Bandy Investments. He married his wife, Charlotte, in August, 1986. They enjoyed raising quarter horses and cattle along with competing at Team Penning events and Ranch Rodeos. In 2007, he opened his own company, Kick Construction, where he had a successful business until his retirement in 2022 for medical reasons. Jim is survived by his wife Charlotte Kick, sons Heath, Cody and Kasey Kick of Pocahontas, Arkansas, and Kyle Messimer of Commerce, Texas. He is also survived by brothers and sisters: Jack Kick and wife, Carol, of Pocahontas, Arkansas; Danny Kick and wife, Donna, of Eldorado, Arkansas; Pat Jones of Pocahontas, Arkansas; Nancy Smith and husband, Al, of Collierville, Tennessee; and Donna Hicks and husband, Mike, of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Jim had five amazing grandchildren: Dylan Kick and Kami Kick of Pocahontas, Arkansas, Hunter Messimer of Forney, Texas and Cheyenne and Tyler Messimer of Commerce, Texas. Jim has one great-grandchild, Riley Kick of Memphis, Tennessee. Jim was also blessed to surround himself with numerous extended family members, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Funeral service for Jim will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Church located at 417 Pinson Road in Forney, Texas with interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Forney. A visitation will take place and his family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
