****Mr. Rounsavall's funeral service will be livestreamed at: https://youtube.com/@trinitybaptist9023 *** John Daniel Rounsavall, of Wills Point, passed away peacefully on the evening of January 24, 2023 at his home with beloved family by his side. John was born Feb. 26, 1958 in Fukuoka, Japan to Reginald and Fumiyo “Katie” Rounsavall. He was met in Heaven by his parents as well as his wife, Shanna Rounsavall, who passed on May 18, 2013. John grew up in Terrell and was a proud THS graduate of the class of 1977. On Aug. 6, 1977, he married his best friend and high school sweetheart, Shanna, and together they made a home filled with love and happiness until her passing after 36 years of marriage. John began a long and respected career with his hometown when he became a police officer with TPD. John’s incredible intellect and communication skills made him one of the best assets to the City and he was quickly identified as a dependable and reliable key to city growth and he began working in Information Technology, becoming the City’s Director of IT. Under the guidance of Bobby Bishop, who was at the time the City Secretary for Terrell, John learned the ins and outs of municipal requirements of a growing community. After Mr. Bishop’s retirement, John was privileged to become the City Secretary where he could maintain the continuity, innovation, and insight that he was known for. The increasing expansion of Terrell allowed John to then become the City Finance Director, a position that was vital as he and other city officials navigated the new opportunities of Terrell while still keeping the history and small-town ambience that made it a great place to live and work. When he wasn’t working, John was a devoted husband and dad whose family was his number one priority. Always one to have a smile on his face, John’s smile become even bigger when he became a grandfather and, to him, there was nothing better than spending time with each grandkid. In 2015, he married Karen Parham, and they were blessed to have their families unite and support them in their lives. A man of integrity, honor and approachability, John will be always remembered for his loyalty and dedication to both his family and his community. John leaves his memory to be forever cherished by his wife, Karen Rounsavall, of Wills Point; son, Stephen Rounsavall and wife, Jamie; daughter, Stephanie Neilsen and husband, Eric, all of Wills Point; stepchildren: Katie Vandaveer and husband, Justin, of Terrell, Jarred Parham and wife, Christina, of Rockwall and Greg Parham and wife, Stephanie, of Durango, CO; grandchildren: Reagan Rounsavall, Lexi Neilsen, Madeline Neilsen, Camden Neilsen, McKinsley Vandaveer, Kendalyn Vandaveer, Alexis Parham, Bliss Parham and Isis Carter; brothers: Bob Rounsavall and wife, Mimi, Tim Rounsavall as well as other extended family members and countless friends. Funeral service will be at 1:00pm, Friday, Jan. 27, 2023 at Trinity Baptist Church, 1104 Goodnight Blvd., Wills Point, TX, 75169. Interment will follow where John will be laid to rest next to Shanna at Locust Grove Cemetery. His family will receive friends 5:00pm to 8:00pm, Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Trinity Baptist Church, PO Box 471, Wills Point, TX, 75169 in honor of John.
