Justen Micah Lawson

Justen Micah Lawson of Terrell, Texas, passed away on January 30, 2026. Born and raised in Terrell, Justen spent his life rooted in the community he loved and proudly called home. Justen was known for his strength, protectiveness, loving heart and his unwavering loyalty to his family and friends. He was always there for anyone who needed him, offering help, laughter, or a listening ear whenever he could. With his carefree biker spirit, quick wit, and sense of humor, Justen had a way of making people feel loved, comforted and welcomed wherever he went. He never met a stranger and always walked away as a friend.. The proud owner and operator of Lawson Landscaping and Irrigation, Justen took great pride in his work and had a strong work ethic. He lived life passionately and enjoyed many interests, including biking, his Viking heritage, old western films—especially Gunsmoke—and classic scary movies. Justen also had a special place in his heart for the world of Harry Potter. He spent many hours lost in the magical universe that was brought to life in these stories, and always remembered and tried to live by this quote from Dumbledore, “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light.” He was a long-time member of Cornerstone Baptist church and some of his fondest days were spent helping with and attending Walk with the Wisemen. Justen loved every holiday, but he was a true Halloween connoisseur and looked forward each year to decorating his own spook-house that he and his friends would spend months planning and working on. Justen also enjoyed annual Texan traditions like visiting the Texas State Fair and the Scarborough Renaissance Festival. He lived to travel or just enjoy the simplicities of life in the comfort of his home. Justen had a great passion for animals and deeply loved his pets, his cat Marshal Dillon and his dog Diesel, who were constant companions in his life. Above all, Justen loved his family fiercely. He is survived by his father, Sam Lawson; his siblings, Kelly Dansby and husband James Dansby, Casey Lawson, Hannah Harmon, and Misty Scott; his nieces, Shelby Daugherty and husband Chuck Daugherty, and Brynlei Massey and husband Xzavion Massey; his aunt Patsy Bullard, aunt Nancy Thomas and husband James Thomas and uncle Roy Horton; special friends Jason Peters and Zach Boyd along with many cousins lifelong brothers and extended family members who loved him dearly. Justen was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Baker Lawson; his maternal grandparents, Lois Baker and Charles Baker; his paternal grandparents, Elizabeth Lawson and John Lawson; and his uncle and aunt Commander John E. Lawson and Nancy Lawson. Justen’s life was a reflection of his love, laughter, and generosity. He ended each video or message with a “Skål!!!”, a cheerful wish for good fortune. Justen’s family and friends will fondly remember each goodbye, each time that he told them, “Til Valhalla!” as a promise and a reminder that he would one day be reunited with his loved ones! While he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace and resting in the presence of the Lord. A funeral service to celebrate Justen’s life will be held on February 6th at 2:00 PM at Reflections Venue at Max Slayton Funerals and Cremations. His family will receive friends beginning at 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Thursday, Feb. 5, also at the Reflections Venue.
