Kathy Lynn Smith

Kathy Smith, beloved wife, mother, Nana, passed away on Feb. 21, 2023 in Forney. Kathy was born May 20, 1969 in Dallas to Harold and Geraldine Johnson and she was preceded in death by her mother along with her maternal grandparents, James and Oleta Sullivan, paternal grandparents, Syb and Gladys Jewel Johnson and Aunt and Uncle, Robert and Jane Johnson. Kathy married the love of her life, Daryl Smith, on May 18, 1990 in Rockwall and they were inseparable. She also worked as the assistant manager with Twice Around Thrift Shop in Kaufman, an organization devoted to helping women and children escape domestic abuse situations. Kathy was hard working, honest, and had a heart of gold. She was someone you’d run to if you needed advice, a shoulder to cry on without judgement and an ear to bend. Her husband, children and grandchildren were her pride and joy and she never really met a stranger and always showed compassion to anyone who looked like they were struggling . She is now our guardian angel and will forever be in our hearts and memories. Kathy is survived by her husband, Daryl Smith, of Kemp; son, Corey Smith of Kemp TX, daughter, Courtney Martin and husband, Zack of Forney; grandchildren: Ryland, Ellie and Emma Smith Jaxxon and Maddox Martin; father, Harold Eugene Johnson and Laura of Athens TX; brother, Gary Johnson of Arkansas; nieces: Ashley Childress of Hot Springs AR, Brittany Johnson of Lonoke. AR; brother, Clint Johnson and his wife Vikki Johnson of Forney TX; nieces: Dawn Bostic of Bridge City, TX, Lacy Pence of Rockwall TX, Haley Mills of Forney TX, April Savant of Richardson TX; nephew, Clint Johnson Jr of Moses Lake, WA; sister, Kelly Cole and her husband Mike Cole of Elmo TX; nephew, Stephen Cole of Elmo TX; niece Niki Carista and her husband Tim of Euless TX, as well as other extended family and many friends. Funeral service will be 12 noon Saturday February 25, 2023 at New Beginnings Baptist Church 4022 Victor Blvd. Kemp, Tx 75143 with interment to follow at Baker Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday February 24, 2023 at Max Slayton Funerals and Cremations.
