Larry Carr

Larry John Carr (82) passed away February 14, 2025, at his home surrounded by family, after a lengthy battle with multi-myeloma cancer. Born August 29, 1942, to parents John and Jane Carr in Dallas, TX, but raised in Commerce TX by his grandparents, Bert and Lilly Jackson. Preceding him in death are his parents, grandparents, and half-sister Dorothy Jean Woodard. After graduating from Commerce High School in 1960, he moved to Dallas and worked at Collins Radio, Dallas Times Herald, Larry’s Auto Supply, City of Richardson Water Department, LTV Continental Emsco and as a civilian employee for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department where he worked in Central Supply. His favorite things were his motorcycle and being a Shriner of Hella Temple in Garland, TX. He served as a Potentate Aide for five potentates, a prior member of the following units: Motor Patrol, Clowns, 101’s, and Peace Officers. He was a member of Highland Park Masonic Lodge #1150 now Tannehill Masonic Lodge # 52 of Dallas. He also enjoyed viewing the Terrell Christmas parade and a sometime participant in the Ennis Polka Festival parade. His interests included the beach, cruising in the Gulf, old cars, boats, fishing, and casinos. He was a member of the Harley Owners Group, where he served as Treasurer for the Dallas Chapter. Other events of his life were his grandson Seth Carr, raising his son Cayce Carr as a Master Mason and seeing him become Worshipful Master of Fate Masonic Lodge #802. He was thankful for his daughter-in-law Shadawn because she is such a joyful, thoughtful, and caring person. He was proud of his son Sean Carr a talented artist, hardworking, and responsible man. He was married to the love of his life and caregiver Jeanne Carr. He is survived by his wife Jeanne of 46 years, Sons: Sean Christian Carr of Weatherford, Cayce Welborn Carr and his wife Shadawn, Grandson Seth Carr all of Rockwall, sister Glenda Conley of Greenville, TX, Half-sister Paula Markman of Tucson, AZ, Sister-in-law Paulette Sprinkle of Terrell, nieces Michele Conley of Commerce, Shannon Jones of Longview, and Kelly Parrymore of Diana, TX and several great-nieces and great-nephews. The family would like to thank Pathway Hospice for sending us Shanelle, Arunee, Michele, and the after-hours nurse Kelly. Our family would also like to thank Max Slayton and his staff for their fabulous job in our hour of need. Services for Larry will be held at 12:00pm on Monday, February 24, 2025 at the Max Slayton Funeral Chapel in Terrell, Texas with an interment to follow at Highland Memorial Gardens in Terrell, Texas. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
