Rev. Larry Davis

Reverend Larry Dean Davis celebrated his birthday in Heaven on March 10, 2025, in Terrell, Texas. He was born on October 31, 1950, in Irving, Texas, to Orville Ray and John Ann Davis. He is preceded in passing by his parents and sister, Beki Long. Bro. Larry was a kind, generous, and loving individual who devoted his life to ministry. He served as College Mound United Methodist Church’s longest-serving pastor, leading the congregation for 29 years, nurturing their faith and guiding them with compassion. Whether through baptisms or baby dedications, Bro. Larry truly embodied the spirit of Christ. His heartfelt messages during every funeral and wedding service were deeply rooted in Christ's teachings and reflected his genuine love. Bro. Larry met the love of his life, Beverly Rae Kossbiel and immediately knew this red-haired girl was the one. They married on August 18, 1973, in Fort Worth and she stood by his side as his right arm and number one supporter for the remainder of his life. His passion for music was evident as he often shared his witness through song, easily grabbing his guitar to uplift those around him. Bro. Larry played the harmonica and as a true teacher, taught his grandsons to play as well. He not only excelled in instruments, he also enjoyed belting it out in the choir and could be found singing and playing guitar surrounded by his friends and family. When not at church, on youth trips, or working tirelessly, Bro. Larry could be found fishing and hunting. With his quick wit and infectious sense of humor, Bro. Larry was approachable and easy to talk to, always available to lend an ear or offer support. Loved by all, he will be missed immensely and remember for his caring nature and guidance. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Beverly Davis; daughters: Dena Sapp and Lauren Andrino; son, Jonathan Davis; grandchildren: Kevin, Jackson, Matthew, and Luci; brother: Billy Davis; his loving family at College Mound United Methodist Church and many extended family members and loving friends. A Memorial Service for Larry is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at the College Mound United Methodist Church in Terrell, Texas. The family suggests memorial contributions made in Bro. Larry's honor to College Mound United Methodist Church in Terrell or an organization of your choice.
