LaVerne Moore

Joyce LaVerne Moore passed away February 3, 2020. She was born November 5, 1939 at Baylor Hospital in Dallas to Harmon Leslie and Joyce Isabel Conn Allen, the third of five children. LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, sister Charlotte Blessing and grandson Jonathan David Moore. LaVerne grew up in the Dallas area and graduated from Seagoville High School in 1958. She then attended Henderson County Jr. College (now TVCC) and East Texas State University (currently Texas A&M Commerce). On August23, 1959, she married the love of her life, Wallace S. “Buzz “Moore in Oceanside, CA. LaVerne and Buzz moved to Terrell in 1980 and became active in Terrell Bible Church. She was a beautiful lady with big heart, loving caring wife and mother. She loved to cook for family and friends she was very talented at playing the piano. She worked several years at Casa Linda Methodist Church and, after moving to Terrell, LaVerne worked at Methodist Day School and the American National Bank making friends at each place with her wonderful and kind personality. While at Methodist Day School, she was able to touch the lives of so many children and parents with her welcoming smile and gentle voice. LaVerne treasured the little ones and getting to see them explore the world through learning new things while teaching them about God’s unconditional love was a cherished part of her life. A beautiful lady with big heart who was also a loving wife, caring mother and devoted servant of the Lord, LaVerne will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of over 60 years Wallace S. Moore of Terrell; sons: Stephen Moore and wife, Pam, of Austin and Douglas Moore of Abilene; grandchildren: Mirabelle, Rose, Luke and Lola Moore; sisters: Donna Van Winkle of Marietta, Tx., Linda Sue McGaughy and husband, Dick, of Georgetown, Tx.; brother, Ronald Allen of Waxahachie; brother-in-law, Bill Blessing of Canton, and sister-in-law, Judy Polnac and husband, Carl, of Mabank as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, beloved former students and a host of friends, all of whom will remember her forever. Funeral service LaVerne will be at 11:00am, Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020 at Terrell Bible Church, 801 Johnson St., in Terrell. Her family will receive friends beginning at 10:00am to service time. Interment will be at D/FW National Cemetery at 11:30am, Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020. We will begin to line up in Lane 3 at 11:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Terrell Bible Church, 801 Johnson St. Terrell, Tx, 75160.
