LeaAnn Welsh

LeaAnn Welsh, beloved mother, Wawa and friend, passed away on March 22, 2026, with family at her side. LeaAnn was born April 20, 1962, to Thomas and Hazel Baird, both of whom preceded her in death along with her brothers Horace Glen Freeman (Bubba), and twin brothers, Perry and Terry Freeman and brother , Thomas Edward (Skip) Baird, Jr. LeaAnn grew up in Dallas and attended H. Grady Spruce High School. Her hard work and strong work ethic led her into working in supervisory roles at different companies leading her to a longtime position at Becky’s Cap and Emblem. In 2003, she received her dream job promotion to “Wawa”, and she happily retired from the workforce to be a round-the-clock grandmother to the grandchildren that were the very lights of her life. In her free time, she loved to be doing any activity with family and friends such as listening to music (all kinds of music with uplifting and encouraging messages along with lyrics that had a great beat and fun words!), playing games, fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved to travel and some of her favorite destinations included Mexico, Costa Rica, or even going camping and anywhere with fishing and time spent outdoors were some of LeaAnn’s favorite days. She also loved the color purple, angels, butterflies, Dr. Pepper, Patsy Cline and Thanksgiving where her meals and special dishes were well-known and greatly anticipated by her family when they gathered every year. LeaAnn considered every day a true gift and her sentimental side always provided her with a perspective of cherishing what she had been blessed with in life as well as appreciating the love and care that each person brought into her own life. LeaAnn would always do more for others than she would ever expect anyone to do for her and this generosity will be proudly carried on into future generations by those who knew and loved her. . A woman who loved her family with her whole heart and who always had a smile that brightened everyone’s day, LeaAnn will be greatly missed and never forgotten. She leaves her memory to be forever cherished by her daughter, Jennifer Erickson and spouse, Jeremy Marchman; son, Joshua Welsh and wife, Kaitlen Fowler Welsh; five grandchildren: Mason Erickson, Madison and Gracie Mollenhauer, Jayden and Kaleb Welsh; great granddaughter, Aaliyah Parks; sisters: Vicki Darlene Baird Dykes, Margaret Rose Baird Vittatoe, and Teresa Lynn Baird Maynard; brother, Ricky Lee Baird along with other extended family and many friends. “In a world full of Grandmas, be a Wawa” 💜🤍 A celebration of her life and legacy is being planned by her family for a later date.
