Linda Johnson

Linda Paulette Pickens Johnson passed away in Dallas on Friday, October 21, 2022, following a brief and courageous battle with pancreatitis . She was born July 22, 1946 in Terrell, Texas to Homer Leon Pickens, Sr. and Enar Pauline Smith Pickens. Linda was a graduate of Terrell High School where she developed friendships that have endured throughout her lifetime. Following graduation, she attended Henderson County Junior College and entered the workforce serving in the medical and legal fields before spending many years in the human resources department of Vistawall. These fields of work suited her servant heart and were a natural extension of putting others before self. She and her adoring husband, Jim Pat Johnson, provided a living example of love, faith, and hope. As they grew their family together with children Kristi, Jami, and Patrick, they remained steadfast to keep Christ as the cornerstone in all aspects of life. Linda has faithfully served her beloved church home, First Christian Church, as a Sunday School teacher, member of the choir, deacon, elder, member of the Christian Women's Fellowship, and any other ministry to which she was called. Following the passing of her husband, Linda remained faithful in her service and leadership, continuing to be an exceptional example to her family. Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Pat Johnson; her mother, Pauline Pickens; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Pat and Alyeen Johnson; her brother, Leon Pickens and his wife, Sandy; and her grandson, Adam Hardman. Linda is survived by her children Kristina Johnson, Jami Hitt and husband Mike, Patrick Johnson; grandchildren: Elizabeth Haire and husband Tye, Andrew Hardman and wife McKenzie, Aaron Hardman, Lynna Johnson; great-grandchildren: Kaysen Haire and Nash Haire as well as many nephews, nieces, and other relatives. She loved each of these individually and deeply along with a whole lot of special friends, each of whom she held dear to her heart. And, she was deeply loved by so many who will continue to treasure the sweet memories they shared. Please join us for visitation on Monday, October 24, 2022, from 6 - 8 pm at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel in Terrell. Celebration of life services are scheduled for 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel in Terrell with interment to follow at Oakland Memorial Park.
