Lura Lynn Chronister

Lura Lynn Chronister passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on March 14, 2025, at her home in Terrell, Texas. Lura was born September 26, 1959, to Avril and Dora (Perez) McClure in Mission, Texas, both of whom preceded her in death. Lura spent her life dedicated to educating and counseling young minds in various school districts in the state of Texas for over 37 years until her retirement. She taught in Dallas, middle school in Terrell, and A. C. Blunt Middle School in Aransas Pass. She devoted her time in clubs such as the Hope Squad, an organization devoted to educating students about the dangers of bullying as well as provide a shoulder for youth to have after experiencing the passing of a loved one or friend. With a strong connection to the youth, she served as Hope Squad president for many years with local ISD chapters and made a difference in so many lives of the students she helped. Lura found her soulmate and perfect match when she met Robert Chronister. On January 20, 1990, they began their grand adventure when they were married in Las Vegas by the famous Wolfman Jack. Together, they were blessed with three beautiful children and they raised their family in a home filled with love and wonderful adventures. When not spending time with helping her students and relaxing with family, Lura enjoyed creating and expressing herself through artistic crafts and cooking. She was an active church member and her greatest life lesson that she was proud to pass on was to always encourage her family to trust in God while being strong and faithful. A kindhearted woman who gave selflessly to everyone she met, Lura’s memory will continue to be treasured by all who knew and loved her She leaves a legacy of unconditional love to her family including her husband of 35 years, Robert Chronister; daughters: Angela Wright and Rachael Chronister; son, Bryce Chronister and fiancée, Ashlyn; sisters: Narcilee Hearn and husband, Gary, Jaylene Mattison and husband, Troy; precious granddaughter, Athena, Lura’s beloved dog and companion, Rocky, as well as many extended family members, students, colleagues and a host of friends, each of whom will miss Lura deeply. A celebration of her life will be at 4:00pm, Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel where all are invited to share the incredible impact Lura had on so many lives.
