Marie Arrington

Marie Arrington, of Terrell, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2018. Marie was born January 30, 1924 in Idabel, OK to John Wesley and Hettie (McAfee) Epperson, both of whom preceded her in death along with her husband, Jack Arrington, son, Joe Nathan Johnson, sister Alice Allen, and grandsons: Peter and John Ferri. Marie was a longtime and faithful member of College Mound United Methodist Church where her smile was always a welcome sight at church gatherings and services. She served a past President of the United Methodist Women where her love of people and serving the Lord was very evident. She taught Sunday School for many years and she gladly volunteered every year for Vacation Bible School. Gardening was a passion of Marie’s and her well known talent for floral arrangements earned many prizes in Kaufman county flower shows. Her personal gardens were true works of natural art and you could always find fresh bouquets around the house. As a member of the Terrell garden club, she had plenty of opportunity to share her creative ideas and green thumb tips. She also enjoyed painting where her originality could also be seen in the art she created. Marie was also an avid golfer with her membership at Lakewood Country Club. Later, she joined the Red Hat Society which enabled her to continue to create lasting bonds with treasured friends by sharing wonderful memories of get-togethers and outings. Those left to continue Marie’s legacy of love are her daughter, Laura Ferri of Overland Park, KS; son, Jack Arrington and wife Lael, of Columbia, SC; daughter-in-law, Mary Johnson of Holly Lake Ranch, TX; grandchildren Jim Ferri, Cynthia Biggs, Tina Johnson, Zachary Arrington; great grandchildren, Kristen Biggs and Alan Biggs; Great-great grandson Baylor Biggs; brother, John Epperson of Idabel, OK; niece, Jayne Epperson White; and nephew, Gordon Allen. Marie’s memory will also be held dear by Kitty Brin and husband, Danny, and Kitty’s daughters, Audrey and Adriane, all of whom were close and loving to Marie for many years along with other extended family and a host of friends. Funeral service for Marie will be 10 am Thursday April 5, 2018 at College Mound United Methodist Church with interment to follow at College Mound Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6 pm to 8 pm Wednesday April 4, 2018 at Max Slayton Funerals and Cremations. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to College Mound UMC, 15151 FM 429 South, Terrell, TX, US, 75161.
