Michael L. Martin

Michael Lane Martin 72, of Texarkana, TX went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Martin was born on Friday, October 20, 1944 in Dallas, TX. Michael was a 1964 Terrell High School graduate after which he attended Texarkana College where he was placed on the college President’s & Dean’s Lists for academic achievement. He retired in 2006 from diesel mechanic work. Michael owned and operated a water well service business for a number of years upon returning to Texas after residing in Arizona for 6 and a half years where he was employed by Western Electric as a commercial switchboard installer and also as a U.S. mail transport driver. Both of these occupations allowed him to travel the United States extensively. He is preceded in death by his parents Preston W. and Jennie May Martin as well as his former wife Debbie and their grandson Greyson Lee Bennett, also by his brothers J.W., Bill and Dale Martin; sisters: Ann Dean, Jean Elizabeth Martin and Carrol Holloway; nephews: Ricky Palmer, Tim Martin, Billy Ray Martin (Gordon) and Preston Chapin. Michael is survived by his children: Michael D. Martin and wife Amanda of Texarkana, TX, Cindy Brown and husband Corky of Elfrida, AZ, and Donna Jean Bennett of Buckeye, AZ; Grandchildren: James Allen Clouse and wife Britani of San Tan Valley, AZ, Quirt Laredo, Larimer Lane, Hondo Eugene Brown of Elfrida, AZ, Michael Dean and Don Michael Martin of Texarkana, TX, Angel and Rose Marie Brown of Elfrida, AZ, April Jeanette, Amy Jane, Manda Mashell and Mashell Pearl Martin of Texarkana, TX; great granddaughter, Bradley Clouse of San Tan Valley, AZ; sisters: Joy Palmer of Terrell, TX, Jeanette Plunkett of Quinlan, TX, and Kay Krebs of Palestine, TX; numerous nieces, nephews and former mother in law Mary Organ of Tucson, AZ and other family and friends. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. January 12, 2017 at Max Slayton Funerals and Cremations with family receiving friends 12:00 p.m. until service time.
