Mike Massey

Michael Massey, of Terrell, passed away Dec. 28, 2024 with family at his side. Mike was born March 20, 1959 in Natchitoches, LA to M. H. and Dena Massey and he was preceded in death by his mother. He graduated in 1977 from high school in Provencal, LA. On June 7, 2010, he married Kimberly, and they settled in Terrell where they were happy to be living in the country. Mike worked at Southeastern Motor Freight for 10 years and then with an offshore drilling company, Attwood Oceanics, from 2007 to 2016. In 2016, Mike began his own company, NTX Mechanical and Welding, where his creativity and craftsmanship with all things metal was in high demand by local clients. His eye for detail and his ability to make custom and unique projects a reality for others was well known in northeast, east and southeast Texas. He and Kimberly also owned a motorcycle outfitting shop in Terrell called G & M Motorcycles where they, again, made great friends out of the customers they served. When not working, Mike loved to fish, play pool, hunt and ride motorcycles. He also truly enjoyed spending time with his grandbabies, his family and friends and even the dogs that Kimberley brought home! His no nonsense yet friendly personality helped everyone know that, with Mike, “what you see is what you get”. A true man of his word, he enjoyed every moment spent with those he loved and the stories of “how Mike took care of it” will be told for generations to come. Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Kimberly Massey; children: Amber Massey, Michael Massey (Tammie), Chelsea Chappell (Frank Evers), Cody Chappell and Cassandra Rodenberg; grandchildren: Taylor, Nathan, Logan, Evelyn, Reid, and Taeah; father, M.H. Massey; siblings: Kim Lacey (Kern), Mitch Massey (Susan); as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, others extended family and a host of friends, each of whom will dearly miss Mike. Funeral service celebrating Mike’s legacy will be at 1:00pm, Monday, Jan. 6, 2025 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Oakland Memorial Park. His family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 5:00pm, Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025 at the funeral home.
