Mittye Frans

Mittye Frans, of Terrell, passed away peacefully into Heaven on the evening of November 29, 2022 with family at her side. As Mittye opened her eyes in Heaven, she was met by her Lord and Savior along with those that had passed before her including her parents, Lemuel and Gladys (Fox) Powell, her siblings: Alfreda Dolores (Dolly) Evens, Dale Powell, Barbara Meador and Vincent (Pat) Powell. Mittye was born Aug. 14, 1955 in Kaufman, TX to loving parents, Lemuel and Gladys, and growing up, she was a bright and wonderful part of her family’s lives. She had a gift for baking and cooking that was evident as a young lady. She was a self-taught cook and Mittye would often show her love for others in her signature dishes and recipes of her baking and cooking. Meeting Mittye was memorable in that, in her, you found an instant friend and greatest cheerleader. The brightness of her smile was what a person noticed first about her followed closely by her encouraging personality. She spent her professional career in positions that enhanced her skills and talents as a baker and she worked at Brookshires Bakery, an experience that would lead her to own and operate her own business, Mittye’s Bakery. When not making dreams come true with her sweet creations, she was a devoted wife and mother and (later) Mema. Her dedication to her family was renowned and there were never days, nor times, that Mittye’s devotion wasn’t clearly seen by all who knew her. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, fishing, crochet and knitting and COFFEE! But above all else, she truly adored being a mom and grandmother and spending precious time with her family, each of whom equally adored her. Mittye’s kind personality made an enduring impression on everyone she met and, to her, there was no such thing as a ‘stranger’, only a person who could, and always would, become a treasured friend. A loving, generous, patient and welcoming lady, Mittye will be always missed but never forgotten. She leaves to carry on her legacy of unconditional love to her husband, of over 30 years, Billy Frans, of Terrell; children: Nancy Martin and husband, Joe, of Forney, Jerry Meador and wife, Crissy of Terrell, Angie West and husband, Jason, of Poetry and Holly McLemee and husband, Craig, of Poetry; grandchildren: Zach Martin and wife, Courtney, Christopher Martin and wife, Breanna, Randy Rickman, Riley Meador, Audrei Nix and husband, Stuart, Andreah Dahl and husband, Ryan, Cade Meador, CrisseiA’ne Meador, Brittany Casies and husband, George, Jason West and wife, Celeste, Grace West, Megan Palin and husband, Wesley, Ariel Martin and husband, Johnathan, Tiffany McLemee, and Sky McLemee; great grandchildren: Jaxxon and Maddox Martin, Lukas Martin, Heaven Rickman, Lane Rickman, Cadence Rickman, Casen Meador, Elijah Nix, Annie Nix, Nora Nix, Jilliana Cavanaugh, Braxton Haley, Alexander Casies, Lela Soto, Ricky Soto, Adrian Soto, Merissa Soto and the expectant arrival of two more great grandchildren; great-great grandchild, Oaklee Hilz; brothers: William (Bill) Powell and wife, Linda of Poetry and Jerry Powell of Quinlan as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends, all of whom loved Mittye dearly and will greatly miss her. A celebration of her life is being planned for 2:00pm, Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with her family receiving friends beginning at 1:00pm to service time.
