Rev. Norman Huneycutt

Rev. Norman Huneycutt, of Terrell, passed away peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior, whom he had served so faithfully, on the morning of June 19, 2024. Norman Nuel Huneycutt was born Jan. 6, 1936, in Dallas County, Arkansas to Robert and Edna Huneycutt, both of whom preceded him into the Gates of Heaven along with his brother Carl Huneycutt, nephew Greg Huneycutt, and grandson, Miles Christensen. At a young age, Norman realized he had a servant’s heart, and he would embark on a life of service to his fellow man as he surrendered to the Call of the Lord and began his ministry here on Earth. Norman was ordained as a Presbyterian Pastor and began his ministry at Grace Presbytery in Dallas and First Presbyterian Church in Terrell. He also held many elected and appointed positions with several charitable, civic, business and benevolent associations. Some of these appointments were: the Advisory Board of the University of Southern California School of Industrial Social Work, Chief Executive of the Round Table of North Texas, Board of Directors and Chair of the University of the Ozarks, Board of Directors for Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Board of Directors and Chair of Confidential Business Resources, Inc, Board of Directors and Consultant for Ethics Point, Inc., Chairman of the Board and CEO of Huneycutt Family Foundation, Founder, President and CEO of Employee Support Systems Co., Inc., Board of Directors Chairman of the No. 1 British Flying Training School Museum, Board of Directors for Employers Group, a longstanding member of the Sons of American Revolution, Jamestown Society, Lone Star Company and the Rotary Club of Terrell. His ability to recognize how to impact others for the better was a testament to Norman’s steadfast faith and trust in God and His Sovereign grace. A man who made every endeavor an action that would only bring glory to the Lord, Norman will be greatly missed and forever remembered. He leaves his legacy of selflessness to be carried on by his wife, Janet Huneycutt; his children: Deborah Renee Christensen, Mary Elizabeth Long, Michael Walker, June Michele Chatelle, and Melinda Kaye Atnip; grandchildren: Meg Shatto, Jeffrey Tebeau, Tanner Christensen, Haley Seaman, Chase Walker, Richard Atnip and Bradley Atnip. In addition, he has a great grandchild: Bridie Shatto; a sibling: Sandra Williams along with nieces, nephews, other extended family, church families, colleagues and a host of friends. A Celebration of Rev. Huneycutt will be at 11:00am, Friday, July 19, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church in Terrell with a private family interment. Norman’s family takes comfort in the words of scripture, Matthew 25:21 “His Lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord”
