Paul David Stobaugh

Paul David Stobaugh, beloved dad and grandpa, went home to be with the Lord with family by his side on December 20, 2023. Paul was born on August 30, 1969 in Peoria, Illinois to Jerry Stobaugh Sr. and Myrtle Marie Taft. He is preceded in death by his father, Jerry Stobaugh Sr.; and brothers in war. Paul bravely enlisted in the United States Army at the young age of 20 and earned the title of a heroic and decorated war veteran. He was awarded many badges and medals that he proudly displayed in his home, some of them being; southwest Asia service medal with 3 stars, Kuwait liberation medal, marksman badge (M 16 rifle) and expert badge (hand grenade). Paul devoted many years of his life protecting and fighting for our country. One of his favorite sayings was “don’t tread on me”. Following his time in the service, Paul moved back to Texas, where he spent the remainder of his working years as a skilled mechanic, and also taught people how to operate machinery. He raised four children, his pride and joy that he would often call “his rock”. To know Paul, was to love him. He had an infectious, wild-spirited personality and a contagious smile that was warm and inviting. Paul had a loving nature about him that a hard life and a cold world just couldn’t shake. He was a “give the shirt off of my back” kind of person, his garage was always open and he was just a phone call away for anyone who needed him. He was solid, down to his core, with a tremendously loving heart and open arms. No matter the day or time you could count on him. Before the leukemia took over, you could find him hanging out in his garage, drinking a beer, playing his drums and singing along to his favorite rock or country songs. Paul loved to have a good time and was the center of every get together. Although Paul enjoyed living life on the wild side, there is nothing he loved more than spending time with his children, and especially his grandbabies. His grandchildren meant the world to him, and he was proud to be their grandpa. Left to cherish Paul’s love and memory are his mother, Myrtle Marie Taft; children, Ashley Lee and husband Lonnie, Brittany Meister and husband Aaron, Nichole Stobaugh, and his only son, his buddy, Ethan “Red” Stobaugh; grandbabies, Weslyn and Waylon Meister, Fletcher Lee, and Oaklynn Hughes; siblings, Marie Detter, Danielle Smith, Renee Hughes, Danny Simmons, Lisa Shockey, Kandy Dry, Jerry “Bubby” Stobaugh Jr.; many nieces, nephews, and extended family, along with an outpouring of friends.
