Sandra Spencer

Sandra 'Sandy' Spencer passed away on April 9, 2026, in Mesquite, Texas. She was born on July 26, 1960, in Garland, Texas to Willie and Almeta (Dever) Carmichael. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Spencer; parents; and brothers, Randy Carmichael and Mark Carmichael. Sandy spent her life in Mesquite, attending school and working in the area. She was very intelligent and throughout high school, took college classes to keep her mind fresh and running. Sandy recognized that she had a heart for helping others and joined the healthcare field. She dedicated her life to her families as a certified nurse aid, taking great care and consideration to everyone she served. Sandy worked diligently for ten great years, only slowing down when her health started to decline. Passionate about her career, Sandy also devoted her time to her family. With her brother Jeff playing as a matchmaker, she met and fell in love with Charles Spencer. Their connection was immediate and eternal as they were married in less than a year after they met and created memories and adventures until his passing in 2022. They could easily be described as the true definition of soulmates by family and friends. She and Charles spent time with their loved ones, even taking yearly trips to Galveston each summer for many years. Sandy would relax in the sun watching her children playing on the beach. Sandy spent her days reading, completing crossword puzzles, creating ceramics, and needle point. She also spent precious moments with her grandbabies teaching them about life and spoiling them with immense love. Her heart was big enough for everyone including her favorite animals, which happened to be any animal that came into her care. Sandy could also take anyone along with her into the world of Harry Potter. Reading all the book and seeing all of the movies, Sandy could recite the lines and took pride in her memorabilia she collected. A doting wife, loving mother, and protective friend, Sandy will be remembered and cherished by all who had the wonderful opportunity to know her. Her story will live on through her children: Ashley Cook and husband, Edwin, Melanie Galban and husband, Domingo, Amanda Carver, Brad Carmichael; grandchildren: Emma, Hailey, Isabella, Vanessa, Jaylah and Sebastian; siblings: Carolyn Grady and Janice York, Don Carmichael, and Jeff Carmichael as well as other extended family and friends. Services for Sandra will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, April 16, 2026 at the Max Slayton Funeral Chapel in Terrell, Texas with an interment to follow at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park in Balch Springs, Texas. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
