Sarah Ann Staggs

Sarah Ann Staggs, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and dear friend, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 9, 2025. Sarah was born on December 16, 1938, in Dallas, Texas, to William Franklin Glass and Helen Clyde Walker, who lovingly referred to her as Baby Ann. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Craig Staggs; her father and mother, William and Helen Glass, along with brother Micheal Lynn Glass, father of her children, Doyle Staggs; brothers-in-law, Perry Guest and Bob Gehring; son-in-law Chuck Fryar, and daughter-in-law Leslie Clark. Sarah faithfully loved Jesus and lived her life as a devoted Christian. From a young age, she spent as much time in church as possible because she knew that the house of God was where she belonged. Throughout her life, she constantly spoke with God, making Him the center of her life, faithfully praising and praying to Him. Sarah was a member at Lakepointe Church in Rockwall, where she always found unique ways to serve her Lord and her church. Being a mother was Sarah's dream, and she loved her four children, Michael, Lauri, Tammi, and Randy, to the ends of the earth, enjoying every second of motherhood. The apple of Sarah's eye was her ten precious grandbabies; she always had them singing, reciting Bible verses, or being put on stage for a performance, which would undoubtedly bring Sarah a smile. She also was the family's arm wrestling champion, beating out all the grandchildren. Her family fondly remembers her country home, where they made many sweet memories. She was the rock the family stood on, and she always prayed for and encouraged the family. She had a great love for all types of animals. Dogs would find their way into her heart, and even turtles would be rescued by her from the dangers of the middle of the road. Sarah Ann had an African Grey named Cricket that she taught to sing Jesus Loves Me and could say, "Mary Kay makes your skin feel beautiful." Throughout her life, she had her own makeshift farm: horses, cows, chickens, pigs, a bull, cats, turtles, and almost every dog breed. Not an animal was left in need when Sarah was around. Sarah Ann lived life to the fullest and truly loved making others smile. One of her favorite pastimes was singing. She had a beautiful voice and sang gospel hymns, Loretta Lynn or Patsy Cline. Sarah enjoyed flea markets and was always searching for a good country antique. People-watching was another favorite activity. Whether on the bench in Walmart or on her front porch, she was ready to make a friend, say a word of encouragement, or pray for a newfound acquaintance. To know Sarah was to have a true friend with a faithful heart and an unshakeable steadfastness. Left to cherish her memories are her children Lauri Matson and husband Mike Sr., Tammi Fryar and Kevin Harpstrite and Randy Staggs and grandchildren: Randy Staggs Jr., Brandon Fryar and wife Nikki, Jennifer Matson Hunter and husband Jason, Ashley Heidman and husband Joey, Matthew Staggs, and wife Kayla, Amber Fryar, Michael Matson Jr. and wife Cherrie, Emily Treshock and husband Bill, April Staggs and Garrett Gore, and Joshua Matson. Her sisters, Carolyn Gehring, and Glenda Guest, are also left to carry on Sarah's legacy. Also her precious great-grandchildren Hudson, Rowen, Ella, Mila, Cason, Claire, Gabriel, Tristan, Ryker, Bodie, McKinley, Hadleigh, Gauge, Remington, Faith, Hope, Haven, Abigail, Caden, Beau, two great great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of beloved friends. A celebration of life will be held at Lakepointe Church, Rockwall, on April 30, 2025, starting at 12:00 pm.
