Sean Melton

On Saturday, February 20, 2021, Sean Melton of Kemp, Texas, passed away at the age of 36. He was born on July 4th, 1984 to Steaven and Joy Melton and graduated from Mineola High School in 2002. Sean served as a police officer for the Richardson Police Department where he was honored to protect and serve his community. Sean attended the University of Missouri-Columbia Business Management from 2007 to 2010 after which he returned to Texas to begin working as a police officer for the Richardson Police Department where he was honored to protect and serve his community. He then worked as an apprentice for the International Union of Elevator Constructors where he was currently employed. Sean was also a proud veteran having served in the United States Marine Corp from 2002 to 2007. He was a combat veteran and served bravely during 4 deployments, including Enduring Freedom & Iraqi Freedom. During his service, he was awarded numerous ribbons and medals: Rifle Expert Badge, Pistol Marksman Badge, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Combat Action Ribbon (Iraq), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (w/2*), Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Presidential Unit Citation, Certificate of Appreciation. We are so thankful for his sacrifice and service to our country. Sean is preceded in death by his grandparents, Chester and Margaret Melton of Mineola, Texas, father, Steaven Melton of Arkansas and uncle, Dale Melton, Sr. of Mineola, TX. He is survived by his mother, Joy Melton of West Plains, MO; sisters: Stephanie Melton-Mosley of Fate, Texas and Alicia Goodfellow (David) of West Plains, MO; his cousin, Dale Melton, Jr (Amber) of Mineola, TX as well as several other extended family members and friends. Funeral services will begin Friday, March 19th, 2021 at 9:15am at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX. The family invites you to join us at Spur On Ministries, 2670 S TX-37, Mineola, TX for a celebration of Sean’s life with a luncheon beginning at 1:00pm.
