Shannon Gibson

Born in Fort Worth, Texas on September 11, 1977 Shannon Elizabeth Gibson was born to Yvonne Jean and George Davis Gibson III. The youngest of three sisters, Shannon knew she was something special from the start. Nova and Deb loved her very much. She lived a happy childhood in Terrell and Rockwall. In her early teen years, she learned to play the cello in school and was very talented. In young adulthood, Shannon began working at the Walmart in Terrell and worked faithfully for them for 23 years. She made many dear friends during her time there. As teens Shannon met the love of her life, Jarrett. In the years that followed they began a life together, raised their children, and made many great memories over the years. Shannon was Jarrett’s best friend until the very end. Shannon and Jarrett lost their sweet baby Kacie as an infant in 2010, and Shannon grieved her loss deeply. She clung tightly to the acronym FROG: Fully Rely on God in the days that followed. From then on Shannon was enamored with frogs of all kinds and they became a symbol of love and devotion for her. After her time at Walmart ended, Shannon spent the last five years as a stay-at-home wife to care for her family. She loved listening to good music, watching movies, and playing video games with her kids. Her favorite Dumbledore quote from the Harry Potter movies was “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light.” Shannon passed peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 after a month-long fight with organ failure. She was preceded in death by her daughter Kacie, mother Jean, and father George. She is survived by her husband Jarrett Payne; children Kelsie, Kinslie, and Lance; brother George Davis “Happ” Gibson IV; sisters Nova Cox and Deborah Veazey; nieces Shelby Cox, Valencia Capers, and Ginger Newman; aunt Judy Kemp as well as other aunts and uncles; and Jarrett’s extended family. Shannon will be remembered most for being a dedicated wife and mother, and having such a big heart. “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way.
