Stacey Buie Rocha

Stacey Dawn Rocha, 53, of Rowlett, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026. Stacey was born Stacey Dawn Buie on October 4, 1972, in Dallas, to Diann and Nolan Buie. She grew up in Balch Springs alongside her twin sister, Christie, and her brothers, Kevin and Jason. She later made her home in Rowlett, where she lived for more than 20 years. Growing up, Stacey's biggest dream was to be a mother and have a family of her own. It was a dream she got to live, and one she never took for granted. Her children were her greatest source of pride, and motherhood remained at the center of her life. She showed up — for band competitions, orchestra concerts, school events, and all the ordinary moments in between. When her youngest daughter, Leah, was born, Stacey even began working nights so she could spend her days at home with her baby. After years as a stay-at-home mom, Stacey returned to the workforce and began what would become a career of more than 20 years at Brinks Home. She started in the call center and worked her way up to the Executive Response Team, building a career she was proud of along the way. Stacey was smart, resourceful, stubborn, and a problem solver of unsolvable problems. For more than 20 years, Stacey shared her life with her husband and best friend, James. They were inseparable and happiest simply being together. They married in the living room of their home during a family cookout — no elaborate plans or decorations, just the two of them, their family, and their vows. Over the years that followed, those vows were lived again and again. Through ordinary days and incredibly difficult ones, in sickness and in health, James remained by her side until the very end. He loved Stacey well, and he loved her fully. As her children grew up, Stacey remained the person they called — their sounding board, problem solver, cheerleader, and the person who always wanted to know every detail. She was enormously proud of the adults they became and thrilled to learn in her final weeks that her son, Will, and his wife, Paige, were expecting her first grandchild. Stacey had a big personality, a quick sense of humor, a quirky sense of fashion, and loved having a reason to celebrate. She decorated for every holiday and made sure her jewelry matched the occasion. She loved a prank, a craft project, and making things for the people she loved. Most recently, that was beading. She made bracelets for friends and family, often praying over them as she worked. Even during her final hospital stay, she made beaded badge charms for the doctors, nurses, and staff caring for her. Stacey had a way of collecting people. Friends of her children, coworkers, extended family, or anyone who needed somewhere to land could find a place with her. Holidays could accommodate another person, dinner could stretch to another plate, and there was always room for the wanderers. She connected with people easily and genuinely cared about what they were going through. Stacey was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2021. The years that followed brought treatment, a stem cell transplant, periods of remission, setbacks, and a lot of uncertainty. Her diagnosis brought Stacey even closer to a faith that had been part of her life since childhood. She prayed for healing and welcomed the prayers of others, but she never believed that faith meant she was owed the answer she wanted. She often spoke about giving thanks in all circumstances — even for the things that felt painful, frightening, or unfair. She trusted God and His timing even when she didn't understand His plan. That same faith shaped the way Stacey thought about death. Long before she was sick, she talked about it openly, sometimes seriously and often with humor. To Stacey, death was part of life, something that would eventually come for all of us, and she saw little reason to spend the life she had being afraid of it. When her own life was coming to an end, she wasn't ready to leave. She wanted to meet her grandbaby, see more graduations, and have more time with the people she loved. But not being ready to leave was different from being afraid to go. Her faith gave her peace, and in the end, it brought peace to the people who loved her too. She left this life certain that what waited for her was not an ending, but a homecoming into the arms of the Savior she trusted. Stacey is survived by her husband, James Anthony Rocha; her children, William Steelman and his wife, Paige, Betty Steelman, and Leah Rocha; her mother, Diann Mitchell Buie; her brothers, Kevin Buie and his wife, Charmey, and Jason Buie and his wife, Pamela; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and others she gathered along the way. She was preceded in death by her father, John Nolan Buie, and her twin sister, Christie Michelle Buie. Stacey's greatest dream was to have a family of her own, and she spent her life loving the one she built. Along the way, she made room for plenty of others too. Her table, her home, and her heart always seemed to have space for one more.
