Wesley Doss

Wesley Ray Doss, of Terrell, passed away July 21, 2026 in Rowlett. He was born Jan. 6, 1954, and was joyfully reunited in Heaven with his parents, JoAnn and Rev. Jimmy Shepherd along with his brother, Steven Doss. Known by many as Bully Doss or PaPa Bull, Wesley graduated from Wills Point High School in 1972 after which he began working in the construction industry. Wesley always had a passion for designing homes and had tremendous talent working with his hands during building projects. Wesley diligently worked several years for his uncle, Gordy Sanders, building custom homes, sharpening his experience and expertise that helped him become the best at what he did. Later, Wesley owned and operated his own framing business alongside his son, Jay. After being his own boss, he was then offered a position with D.R. Horton Home Builders and finished his career as Superintendent, after which he retired to spend more time with family and friends. He truly loved his grandchildren and days spent with them were the most special days to Wesley. Anyone who knew him, knew he always had a big smile, always helped others to smile all while laughing and making sure he enjoyed every day that he was blessed to have. Wesley always made sure to tell everyone “I love you today” and he made especially sure that his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren knew exactly how much he loved each of them. A man who never took anything for granted in his life, Wesley will leave a cherished legacy of unconditional love and fun memories to everyone whose life he touched. He is survived by his son, Jay Doss and wife, Becky; grandchildren: Brittany, Sonja, Kylie, Amber and Brooke; great grandchildren: Grayson, Aspyn and Babygirl; brother, Jim; sisters: Debbie and Darlene; nieces and nephews: Amanda, Aaron, and Blake, as well as many other extended family and friends, each of whom will greatly miss Wesley. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with an interment to follow at Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell, Texas. His family will receive friends beginning at 9:00am, one hour prior to service time.
