Wilma Jones

Wilma Lucille Jones, lifetime resident of Terrell, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior, whom she loved and served, on October 6, 2025. Wilma was born August 27, 1943 to her parents, Harlan and Lucille, both of whom joyfully welcomed her into Heaven along with her husband, Murrell Jones, and brother, Norman Jahnes. Wilma attended Terrell schools and graduated in 1961 from Terrell High School where she was involved in many activities including cheerleading. Her personality and academic accomplishments helped her be a vibrant part of the student body with many friends among the students and staff. Wilma began working for American National Bank in Terrell, until retiring, with her most recent position as BSA Analyst II. For over 41 years, her smiling, helpful and patient demeanor was cherished by coworkers and customers alike. Wilma was a faithful and longtime member of First Baptist Church in Terrell and was involved in many ministries including choir, Sunday School, and helping with church hospitality activities. It was at church that she met a gentleman, Murrell Jones, who would become a perfect match for Wilma’s life of service. On Feb. 6, 1988, they were married and enjoyed many years together until Murrell’s passing in 2007. She was a devoted mother to her children, Sharon and Norman, and being their mom was her greatest achievement. Wilma loved gardening, cooking, spending time with family and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a natural caretaker and she was always the one to call and check up on family and friends, making sure that connections and visits made for better days. A woman who loved the Lord and those whom He blessed her with in life, Wilma will be forever missed and always remembered. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Berbig; son, Norman Seals; sister, Doris Howell; twin sister, Edna Vann and husband, Wesley, Jr.; grandchildren: Nathan Seals, Nikki Williams, Heather Haddock, and John Berbig; 7 great grandchildren as well as many other extended family, church family and a host of friends, each of whom greatly loved Wilma. Funeral service will be at 2:00pm, Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Terrell with interment to follow at Ables Spring Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Friday, Oct. 10, at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel.
