Wynice Blackwell

Wynice Bennett Blackwell was born Jan. 19, 1939 in Wills Point, TX and passed into the presence of her Lord on October 3, 2022. She was born to Clyde Earnest Bennett and Della maire Bolt Bennett, both of whom preceded her in death along with her beloved husband of 57 years, Girley, whom she is also reunited with after his recent passing in August of 2022. Wynice was also preceded in death by her twin sister Wynell Carter, and sisters Louise Phillips, Dorothy Craig, Mildred Lawrence, and her brothers Billy Joe Holland, N.V. Holland and Clyde Bennett Jr. Wynice lived in Wills Point until she was 3 years old until her family moved to Terrell. She graduated from Terrell High School in 1958. She was a Girl Scout leader for both her daughters and a Sunday school teacher. She and Girley were longtime and active members of Emmanuel Baptist Church and she was a faithful servant helping in many areas of church ministry. Wynice’s favorite activity was Vacation Bible School in that she loved to see the little ones learning about Jesus and she made sure to bring her grandchildren too! She was also a member of the Eastern Star and was appointed Worthy Matron in 1981-82. She also served as chairperson for many other organizations over the years. She was employed at Titus-ASC from 1973 to 2001 and retired after 28 years of dedicated service. Wynice also worked for Flowerfields florist for 10 years where she enjoyed creating beautiful arrangements and brightening others’ days with custom designed orders. She loved to shop and sew. She enjoyed helping with events at the church or with the family, anything from baby showers to weddings. She and her husband , Girley enjoyed traveling and, when they traveled, they often took their grandkids and great grandkids along making many treasured memories during each trip. She will always be remembered by her family as a faithful prayer warrior who prayed for every family member continually. Along with her legacy of love and kindness towards everyone she knew, Wynice’s dedication to being the best mom, grandmother and friend everyone she loved will be treasured always. Her memory will forever by treasured by her three children: Janis Blair and husband George of Terrell, Richard Blackwell and his wife Elizabeth of Wills Point and Debra Allen and her husband Shawn of Cresson, TX. Her memories will live on inside her grandchildren: Jason Baker and wife Amanda of Terrell, Jeremie Baker and wife, Lauren, of Crandall , Syndi Samford and husband Michael, Cody Blackwell, Michael Blackwell and wife Jaime all of Wills Point, Myranda Allen of Benbrook, Krista Quiring and husband Sam of Pilot Point; her great grandkids: Taylor and Georgia Baker, Tyler and Madison Baker,Trinity, Trent, and Trey Samford, Kailie, Cody Jr, Harlie,and Zain Blackwell. Ryan, Nathan, and Nicholas Blackwell. Even though Paislee and Elijah Quiring and Tatumn Baker will not remember her, her family will make sure her loving spirit is shared with them. The beginning of the great-great grandkid generation began with Elyanah-Ann Baker and each of them will be the continuation of Wynice’s legacy of unconditional love, devotion to family, and service to the Lord. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 7, 2022, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Terrell, Texas with interment to follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. There will be a visitation on the evening of Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home where friends are welcome to come pay their respects and offer condolences to Wynice’s family.
