Agnes Hays

Agnes Hays, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and child of God, passed away peacefully on Oct. 1, 2022 with her family at her side. Agnes was born April 16, 1926 in Tallahassee, FL to Robert and Estelle Raker, both of whom met her in Heaven along with her husband, Lee Donald Hays (Don), Sr., son, Lee Donald Hays, Jr., two sisters and four brothers, and three sons-in-law, all of whom gladly rejoiced when reuniting! Agnes’ life of exemplary witness began with her own mother, Estelle, who gave Agnes the foundation in a strong relationship with Jesus. Throughout her life, Agnes would be a powerful prayer warrior and soul winner that others looked to as an embodiment of God’s infinite love for each of us. After graduating high school, Agnes worked in her brother-in-law’s café when in walked a young service man who was instantly struck by her beauty. Don would leave that meeting with Agnes and build a five bedroom home (to fill with children) and asked Agnes to marry him. For over 60 years until Don’s passing, they had a life filled with love, shared memories and, of course, children! Agnes was involved in every local church wherever she and her family lived and she would serve each ministry with all of her heart and be there with her children every time the church’s doors were open. She felt that the whole world was a mission field and she never missed a chance to tell others that she met about the wonderful saving grace of Jesus and how his grace made the broken whole again. Agnes loved her family and was devoted to making sure they had everything they needed in life. Time spent with her children was precious to her and, then as they had their won families, she would find incredible happiness seeing all the blessings that the Lord had favored them, and her, with over the years. A true Proverbs 31 woman, Agnes will be greatly missed by her family but knowing that they WILL see her again standing beside the Lord is the ultimate comfort! She is survived by her three daughters: Rita Collier, Bonnie Van Dyke and Linda Vaughan; ten grandchildren and their spouses including Wade and Fallon Hays, two very special blessings; 22 great grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren, each of whom will proudly carry on Agnes’ legacy of faith and love for the Lord in their own lives. Funeral service will be held Friday, October 7, 2022 at 3:00 p.m., at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel. Agnes’ family will receive friends beginning at 2:00pm to service time. A private family interment will be at Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Lee.
