    Barbara Wood

    March 27, 1938 - January 9, 2019

Barbara Ann Wood passed away on Jan. 9, 2019 at her home in Rockwall. Barbara was born in 1938 in Terrell to James and Frances (Sparks) Williams, both of whom preceded her in death along with her daughter, Laura Wood Gosser, granddaughter, Jennifer Wood, son-in-law, Ray Gosser, brother, Kenneth Williams and her former husband and father of her children, Danny E. Wood. Barbara grew up in Terrell and worked for, and retired, from Dallas ISD where she taught for many years helping every child achieve their potential. Barbara was also employed with both Safeway and Kroger having worked her way to achieve management positions. Because of her commitment to excellence in customer service and leadership, Barbara was a sought-after associate at locations in, and around, the Terrell and D/FW area. Barbara enjoyed time with family and friends as well as playing bridge at tournaments around the country and with her Rockwall friends. Barbara was a lifelong tennis fan and achieved her dream of attending the Wimbledon tournament in England in 2016. Traveling with family and friends to other destinations in Europe, the Caribbean, and South America was also her passion. At home, Barbara was an avid reader and also enjoyed quiet time with her precious dogs. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Terrell. A loving mother and devoted friend, Barbara will be missed by all who knew her. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Dan Wood, Jr., and wife, Laura of Terrell; daughter, Nancy Wood Mauldin of Rockwall; nieces: Rhonda Williams of Quinlan and Lana Christine Williams Bella of Belton; nephew, Doug Williams of Missouri; as well as her beloved dogs. Funeral services for Barbara Wood will be 1 pm Monday January 14, 2019 at the First Christian Church, 405 N. Adelaide St., Terrell, Texas 75160 with interment to follow at Able Springs Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 4 pm to 6 pm Sunday at Max Slayton Funerals and Cremations. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Barbara’s love for rescuing, the family requests that memorials be made to Terrell Animal Alliance at 13802 Sarah Lane, Terrell, TX 75161. Condolences may be shared with her family at www.maxslaytonfunerals.com.
