September 21, 1947 - November 19, 2017
Betty Baker Lawson, of Terrell, passed away peacefully after a courageous fight with cancer on November 19, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Betty was met in Heaven by her parents, Charles and Lois (Billings) Baker. Betty was born Sept. 21, 1947 in Marysville, California and graduated from Terrell High School in 1965. She was a talented visual coordinator with an eye for décor and design. Betty worked at the Terrell Tribune for many years as well as for Video Posts and SolJay Video Productions where her skills at seeing different perspectives made her invaluable in creating videos for memories and storytelling. In keeping with her eye for design and color, Betty and her husband, Sam, owned and operated Lawson’s Nursery where she would help home and business owners make their landscaping dreams a reality. Serving others came easy to Betty because of her love and her service to the Lord. She was a faithful and active member of Cornerstone Baptist Church for over 20 years where she was very involved in the church’s many outreach ministries. Betty served as Sunday School and Children's Church Teacher, Drama Ministry Leader, VBS Drama Director, and was appointed to several church committees including Decorations and Finance Committee. She also was Asst. Director to the Walk With the Wise Men, an annual Christmas event that became an important family tradition for so many Terrell families. Betty was also a founding and board member of the Kaufman County Community Theatre where her insight was always welcomed by colleagues and patrons. A lovely woman inside and out, Betty leaves behind a legacy of beauty, sophistication and love that will be treasured by her family and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Sam Lawson of Terrell; children: Justen Lawson and wife Ashley of Terrell, Casey Lawson of Terrell, Kelly Cunningham and fiancé, James Dansby of Van, Hannah Maas of N.
