BJ Vicars Sr.
March 7, 1938 - August 17, 2021
Billy Joe (BJ) Vicars, Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 17, 2021. BJ was born March 7, 1938 in Jamestown, TX to Scott and Ally Sue (Cauthran) Vicars, both of whom preceded him in death along with his son, Bradley Scott (Scotty) Vicars and his sister, Mary Ann Taylor. BJ had been in the community since the 1950s and in 1962, he started his own business, BJ Vicars Septic Tank Service, a company this is still in existence today. In December of 1980, he met the woman who would become his best friend and soulmate, Debbie Buyher. On Aug. 12, 1987, in Longview, TX, he and Debbie were united in marriage in the presence of their beloved family and the Lord. Their partnership in life was a testament to true love and commitment and you never saw Debbie without BJ nor BJ without Debbie! The love BJ had for Debbie was only rivaled by the love he had for his family and his devotion was never doubted. His earnest work ethic and professionalism garnered BJ a reputation of trustworthiness, honesty and integrity and he was well known for building his business through hard work and dedication. BJ was a member, alongside Debbie, at Victory Baptist Church where his sound counsel and wisdom was always welcome to the pastor and other members. BJ was also an accomplished musician with a talent for playing blue grass fiddle and his musicianship was always looked forward to at church functions and gatherings. In recent years, his daughter, Ryley, also had taken up lessons of playing the fiddle showing an inherited skill from BJ. A man of few words and steadfast strength, BJ will be forever missed but never forgotten. BJ leaves to carry on his legacy of love to his treasured wife, Debbie Vicars; son, Joey Vicars, daughter, Ryley Blankenship; grandson, Jody Vicars; granddaughters: Brittany Vicars, Elizabeth Patterson, Lexie Vicars, and Brianna Vicars; great grandchildren: Mikey Patterson, Elayna Vicars and Everleigh Vicars; daughter-in-law, Pamela Vicars; sister, Sandra Root, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends, all of whom loved him greatly. Funeral service will be at 2:00pm, Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021 at The Rock Church in Terrell with interment to follow at Highland Memorial Gardens where he will be laid to rest beside his precious son, Scott. BJ's family will receive friends 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, Aug. 25, at Max Slayton Funeral Home.
