Bobby "Jinx" Ray Clower Jr.
September 24, 1956 - September 16, 2019
Bobby Ray Clower, Jr., known to all as “Jinx”, passed away September 16, 2019 in Terrell, Texas. Jinx was born September 24, 1956 in Terrell to Bobby Ray Clower, Sr. and Claudine Smith Clower. Jinx was preceded in death by his mother, Claudine Cannon; niece, Petey; and grandparents: B.L. and Nancy Clower and Lewis and Ruby Smith. Jinx grew up and attended schools in Terrell and his personality made him an instant friend of so many. His ready smile and excitement as he took time to visit with friends were always bright spots in everyone’s day. Conversations with Jinx were like a whirlwind-fast and furious but always fun! To say Jinx loved the rodeo and everything about the rodeo is an understatement. He lived every day to get the chance to be around the arenas, other cowboys, and the competition of riders against the stock. Jinx began rodeoing at the age of 15 which led him to a career for the PBR as a driver, gateman, and event set up all over the nation. He retired from the PBR in 2012 but stayed active in local rodeos and county fairs and competitions, never once losing his intense love for the sport. Not one to stay idle, Jinx took a position as dispatcher and terminal manager for KL Breeden and Sons where he was a loyal and devoted employee. His sense of humor and his willingness to always do any task to set up, work at, and tear down a rodeo earned him a reputation far and wide. The many friendships he made during his rodeo days were a blessing to Jinx and he treasured every person (and stock!!) who came into his life. A wonderful man with a heart as big as Texas, Jinx will be missed by all who knew him. Jinx is survived by his wife, Amanda Clower, of Terrell; father, Bobby Clower, Sr, and wife, Nancy of Terrell; brother, Buddy Clower of Carrollton, sisters: Jo Heard of Dubach, LA; Bunni Strahan of Bernice, LA; Kristie Roscoe Waters of Magnolia, TX; and Karen Roscoe of Plano, TX; “bonus children”: Quillian Kelly and wife, Marianna, of Eagle River, WI and Thalia Curtis of Flint, MI, “bonus grandchildren”: Cienna Kelly, Haiden Kelly, and Octaviah Lester, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of other friends. A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00am, Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel where all are invited to share memories of Jinx and his legacy. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Riders Relief Fund at www.westernsportsfoundation.org, an organization that was near to Jinx’s heart to fund other rodeo athletes and their injuries.
