Dixie Leinart, age 95, died on Saturday, the day of rest, March 28, 2020, in Dallas, Texas. Burial will be at Oakland Memorial Park Cemetery in Terrell, Texas. She was born in 1924 in Belleville, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph E. Jacques Sr. and Maude White. She graduated from Belleville Township High School in 1942. She received an invitation from Jimmy Ford, a close friend, to attend the Army Air Force’s Officer Candidate School graduating class formal dance on October 24, 1942, at the Lord Tarleton Hotel in Miami Beach. Jimmy’s classmates were Clark Gable and Lloyd Bentson Jr. Jimmy introduced Dixie, age 18, to Clark Gable, age 41, and she danced two dances with him. She said that he was very polite and a good dancer. She graduated from the United States Cadet Nurse Corps, St. Louis City Hospital-Training School for Nurses as a licensed registered nurse in 1946. Member of Phi Sigma Lamda. She married Dr. O. S. Leinart Jr on December 11, 1946 in Belleville, Illinois. She later was a Girl Scout leader. Survivors include daughter Nicki and Prissy, sons John and Bill, and grandchildren Matt and Amy Leinart. In lieu of flowers the family asks memorials may be made to your charity of choice.
