Douglas Everett Hailey

June 30, 1959 - January 11, 2021

Douglas Everett Hailey, of Terrell, passed away peacefully with family at his side on January 11, 2021. Doug was born on June 30, 1959 at the old Colonial Hospital in Terrell, Tx. He was met in Heaven by his Lord and Savior, Jesus, as well as his father, Henry Hailey, Jr., brother, Carl Hailey and grandparents, Hayden and Ruby Peters and Henry, Sr., and Alice Hailey. Doug worked for Schepps Dairy making ice cream treats in Terrell as well as with the other dairies in Dallas. Later, he worked as a hay baler with Richard Crow’s Custom Baler business where he enjoyed very much being outside during his work until his health began to decline. Doug was a member of LifePoint Church in Terrell and was always the first to share his faith in Jesus and how much Jesus loved others. A kind man with an ever-present smile, Doug’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him. Doug is survived by his devoted caretaker and mother, Thelma Hailey; brother Tony Hailey; son, Craig Hailey and grandson, Robert Cagle. He is also survived by his niece and nephews: Everett Hailey, Eric Hailey, Rick Rashell, Daniel Rashell and Jake Rashell; three great nieces, 1 great nephew as well as many other relative and friends. A private interment was held at Blackjack Cemetery and a memorial service is being planned to celebrate Doug’s life and legacy.
