January 7, 1937 - April 23, 2021
Angell, Evelyn Doniece (Thomas) went to be with her Heavenly Father at 8:32 pm, on Friday, April 23, 2021. She finally met the Savior she has shared with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and honestly, everyone she ever met. While we are grieving her loss, we rejoice that she has been reunited with her mother Fannie Onita ( Flatt) Thomas, and father Alvis Winston (AW) Thomas, sisters Faye Thomas and Duewon Rinks, as well as her mother-in-law Ruby Evans Angell and father-in-law Ollie Lee Angell. Doniece is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Allen Angell; son Farron Angell; daughters Angela O’Haver (Wayne), & Stephanie DeFord (Scott). She is survived by grandsons Grant Angell (Amanda), Blake Cech (Holly), Richard DeFord, & granddaughter Melody Angell-Gonzalez (Jesus); and the lights of her life: great-grandsons Dallen, Dayton, Scottie, & Parker; and bonus great-grands Mason & Brayden. She also leaves to cherish her memory, brother Herbert Thomas (Myrna) and sister Glenda Sadler (Buddy), sister and brother-in-law Margarett & Billy Angell, sister-in-law Nelda Maykus, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Doniece was born In the home of her Aunt Annie Masters on 429 toward Able Springs. She attended Terrell schools and graduated from Terrell High school in 1956. She had met the love of her life, Allen, in 1955, at the Palace Cafe where she worked in downtown Terrell; he proposed at Thanksgiving and they married June 8,1956, just days after she graduated from Terrell High School. Doniece loved being a Christian (a life-long Baptist) and sharing her faith. She taught Sunday school, made hundreds of casseroles, and quilted dozens of blankets for children in need. She was an auxiliary Gideon, a deacon’s daughter, and a deacon’s wife. Her numerous hobbies included taking in and helping stray and injured animals, gardening, antiquing, completing sudoku puzzles, and sewing—She even designed and made her own wedding dress. While she mostly worked at home, she loved her time as librarian at JFK elementary school from 1966 to 1973. She loved spending weekends and summer vacations at the volunteer fireman’s lake lot at Lake Tawakoni, family vacations all over the US, Canada, and Mexico, and a cruise to Panama. Funeral service will be at 1:00pm, Friday, April 30, 2021 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with Rev. Buddy Sadler, of First Missionary Baptist Church officiating along with family friend, Rev. Billy Jones. Doniece will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Campground Cemetery. Her family will receive friends beginning at 12:00pm to service time.
