    George "Buddy" Shipley

    October 7, 1934 - March 20, 2022

    George Austin (Buddy) Shipley went home to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 20, 2022 with his family by his side. He was born on October 7, 1934, the second oldest of 8 children born to Austin and Georgia Shipley. Buddy lived his entire life in Forney and graduated from Forney High School. Buddy was a member of the armed forces and serviced in the US Army and after the Army, he was a member in the Army National Guard. Buddy operated his own gravel truck for many years and was employed by Yellow Freight Lines until his retirement. He was a proud member of Teamsters Local 745. He also worked hard on the family farm and raised cattle. Buddy was married to Mary Pritchett on November 7, 1959 and to that union two children were born. Mary passed away on December 6, 2016 after 57 years of marriage. Buddy is preceded in death by his wife Mary, parents Austin and Georgia Shipley, brothers Bobby, Harry and Pat Shipley. Buddy is survived by his son Richard and wife Deanna Shipley, daughter Tammy and husband Robert Manquero, his granddaughter D’Anna and husband Steven Graham, grandson Michael Creecy and wife Morgan. Five great grandchildren, Henry, Adalyn, June, Luke Austin, and Frankie. His sister Judy Shipley and her husband Paul, brothers Mike Shipley and wife Charlsie, Jerry Shipley and wife Kristi, and James Shipley. A graveside service is scheduled for 1 P.M. on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Forney, Texas. The family will receive friends and those wishing to extend their condolences on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel from 6 – 8 p.m.
