February 15, 1953 - April 10, 2019
Harold William Schweitzer, Jr. (Buddy) of Poetry, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2019 with family at his side. Buddy was born Feb. 15, 1953 in Great Falls, Montana to Harold, Sr “Junior”, and Edna (Hill) Schweitzer. He was met in Heaven by his sister, Patty Mooney and step-father, Birl Watkins. Being born in Montana imbued in Buddy an appreciation for the outdoors and establishing a work ethic based on honesty and integrity. Buddy was a second-generation Texas Master Plumber and growing up in Mesquite seeing his father, Junior, treat every customer as if they were family ensured that he had the same commitment to serving with dependability and truthfulness. In 1980, he married the love of his life, Carole McMillan, and together their lives were filled with love, laughter and family. In 1996, Buddy took over the company his father owned, Junior and Son Plumbing, and continued to provide the same stellar customer service. His son, Justan, joined the family business and the three generations of knowledge cemented their professional reputation. In 1994, he and Carole moved to Poetry where his love of the outdoors, fishing, and hunting could be daily activities enjoyed with friends and family. He lived his life the way he wanted to and his ability to “tell it like it is” always allowed others to see his incredible insight based on love and experience. Buddy’s sense of humor was well known and there wasn’t a day that went by where he made sure that he was having fun with Carole, his kids, his customers, and, most especially his grandkids. He was a devoted husband, loving father and an AMAZING PawPaw and he will be greatly missed. Buddy leaves a precious legacy of love to his wife of over 38 years, Carole Schweitzer of Poetry; children: Nicole Killam and husband, Kalen Killam, Justan Schweitzer and wife, Veronica Schweitzer, Clint Dark, Scott Dark and Joy Hartman; grandchildren: Wyatt Killam, Paisley Killam, Kaden Schweitzer, Reed Schweitzer, Kallie, Cassie, Brenden, Cadi, Will, Michaelyn and Noah; father, Harold “Junior” Schweitzer and wife, Linda, of Mesquite; mother, Edna Watkins of Mt. Home, Idaho; sisters: Deborah Chambers, Roxie Elder, Dawn Weiner, and Robin Stewart as well as several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and a host of friends. In the words of Buddy that so aptly described his outlook on life, family and friends: “Here’s to you, here’s to me, may we never disagree but if we do… I Still Love You.” Graveside service for Harold "Buddy" Schweitzer Jr. will be 1:30 pm Friday April 12, 2019 at Campground Cemetery in Poetry. Family will receive friends 11 am to 1 pm Friday April 12, 2019 at Max Slayton Funerals and Cremations.
