    Helen Belcher

    August 23, 1922 - October 27, 2021

    Helen David Belcher, longtime resident of the Terrell area, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 27, 2021. Helen was born August 23, 1922 in Gossett, Texas to Stewart Marion and Eliza (Daum) David, both of whom met her in Heaven along with her husband, Loyd C. Belcher, daughter, Arnecia Lane McKay, sons: Charles L. Lane and David M. Lane, grandson, James Roath, sisters: Audrey Lewis, Adlene Dennis and Billie Morse and brothers: Nathan David and Stewart David. Helen was an active and longtime member of Colquitt Road Church of Christ where she was a beloved sight to both members and visitors over the years. She worked at The Man’s Shop in Terrell for many years being a customer favorite because of her friendly personality. She then worked for, and retired from, Wal Mart in Terrell after many years of faithful service to the many guests and shopper she assisted as well as the associates that worked with at the store. Helen was also a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and she enjoyed helping plan and organize the fundraisers and activities for the veteran community over the years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and she will be missed greatly by all who knew her. She is survived by her son, John Belcher and wife, Laurie of Amarillo; grandchildren: Charles L. Lane, Christy Marshall, Cody Lane, Breezy Rose Lane, Jerry Lane, Nathan Lane, Christopher Carathers, Jeremy Carathers, Charles Carathers; numerous great grandchildren and sisters, Kitty Cernoch and Bernice Gross as well as many other extended relatives, her Colquitt Road church family and a host of friends. Funeral service will be at 11:00am, Monday, November 1, 2021 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Campground Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2:00pm to 4:00pm, Sunday, October 31, 2021 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Helen’s family asks that donations be made to the American Legion Auxiliary, 236 West Highway 276, West Tawakoni, TX, 75474, or to Colquitt Road Church of Christ, 1350 Colquitt Rd, Terrell, 75160.
