James Shipley

October 14, 1947 - April 15, 2022

James Shipley passed away peacefully on April 15, 2022 in Mesquite, Texas. He was born on October 14, 1947 in Forney, Texas to Austin and Georgia Shipley. James graduated from Forney High School and enlisting into the Army shortly after. James was honorably discharged from the Armed Forces and then began his career as a fireman. He retired in 2000 from the Arlington Fire Department after serving 22 years. He was married to his sweetheart, Peggy for 30 years before her passing. One of James’ favorite pastimes was to gather with family and friends, have a cookout and drink beer. It was even stated that James cooked everything on the BBQ smoker, including frozen dinners. James enjoyed spending time at the lake and reminiscing about his time in the service while serving in Vietnam. James is preceded in death by his wife Peggy Shipley, parents Austin and Georgia Shipley, brothers Bobby, Harry, George “Buddy” and Pat Shipley and granddaughter, Kenlie Pallett. James is survived by his daughter Ashley Shipley and husband Fabian Gamez, sons Bryant Shipley and Danny Pallett and wife Tonya; grandchildren: Aiden, Mason, Cody, Skiler and Riley; Sister Judy Shipley and her husband Paul; brothers Mike Shipley and wife Charlsie, Jerry Shipley and wife Kristi along with many nieces, nephews, and other numerous family and friends. Funeral services for James Shipley are scheduled for Thursday, April 21,2022 at 1 p.m. There will be a visitation on Thursday, April 21, 2022 beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, Forney, Texas.
