    Janice Young

    December 13, 1946 - August 27, 2020

Janice M. Young, of Terrell, passed away peacefully on Aug 27, 2020. She was born December 13, 1946 in Maud, TX, to James Thomas and Rosie Ida (Mathis) Warren, both of whom preceded her in death along with her brother, James Warren and sister, Novie Shewbirt. Janice grew up in a small town and came to recognize that relationships on every level matter the most. She adored her Maud Cardinals, classmates, and she was voted “class favorite” her senior year of high school. She had an easy-going smile with a merciful temperament, and Janice was always helping anyone in need. She married the love of her life, Gordon, on April 28, 1979 in Tyler, TX. They were devoted parents to their blended and beloved family. She worked over 29 years as an administrative assistant with Saville, Dodgen & Co. where her keen eye for figures and attention to detail made her a valuable asset to the company. She and Gordon were charter members of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Terrell where their friendships to others were hallmarks of their welcoming natures. After retiring from accounting, Janice became a substitute teacher with TISD. Her ability to be outgoing and fun, while also ensuring that classroom rules were abided by, made her a favorite at each campus with all the students. She had an endearing personality that made others instantly at ease when they met her and served alongside her. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend, Janice will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Janice is survived by her devoted husband of over 41 years, Gordon Young of Terrell; daughters: Donna Gouze, Shelli Littleton and husband, Brian; son, Christopher Fomby; stepchildren: James Young and wife, Ledona, Paul Young and wife, Loretta, Rebecca Bolte and husband, Mark; grandchildren: Karalee, Katelyn, Delaney, Tierney, Nathan, Andrew, Miranda, Alicia, Donald, Jonathon, Kaycea, Joshua, Shellie and Triston; great grandchildren: Amber, Cheyenne, Dreausilla, Richard James, Inze, Tucker, and Rustin; great-great grandchild, Ruby; sister, Margarett Barrett; nieces and nephews: Sherry, Linda, Garry, and John, as well as other extended family, church family and a host of friends and students near and far. Funeral service for Janice will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, September 5, 2020, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 113 State Highway 205, in Terrell for all family and friends. Family will receive friends beginning at 12 noon until service time. Interment will follow at Campground Cemetery in Poetry, Texas.
